This was a HUGE deal a few months after the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe. Lots of people I know made a lot of money from BP with their boats.

They got paid for their boats being tied up doing nothing.

Same here. Seen some of the payouts that allowed many of them to retire with the lifestyles they lived after they estimated losses hundreds, sometimes thousands of times hire than actual. They're not hungry, don't need to work, and have the "screw the consumers" attitude.

Thing is, the Viets will pick up their slack. And in a few years, when the lazies have blown through their settlements, you'll see them badmouthing the foreigners wanting to get back in.

I know people who serve at restaurants that made good money and people who worked as contractors who said the downturn caused them to work less.

It's crazy.

I never took FEMA or BP money.

(I did take a $200 food stamp card from the State of Texas though, just because they were handing them out)
