in late 70s saw about 10 caught maybe 30-40 hook ups
Reeled a few close to boat in 70s and 80s
landed one in early 80s...
funny is most of ours never came from the spots listed in this or other articles..
last tarpon I saw in lake was early 2000s...
my guess is closing mr go is restoring tidal flow that made em go in the old days...
also.. before any on you say they are going into the lake to spawn.. WRONG... they spawn offshore..
they follow what they eat..
more effictive than sitting in the "holes".. which I haven't done since the 70s.....
is to glass looking for fish, slicks or bait... and .. wait for it... mixing water or rip/current lines...
if you can find a drop off.....kabooom
if I list the general locations where most of the tarpon are.....I will get beat up by a friend of mine from NO..
and... you can paddle a yack to one of them from a two lane road....
