The constant singing /chanting/ flag and banner and flare shows are really pretty spectacular. It's all about taste ultimately but the soccer crowd is much, much more of an interactive, participatory dynamic.
It's more orchestrated for sure due to the nature of the two sports. There isn't as much to constantly cheer like in football so they fill the time with the songs, chants etc... and that is awesome for sure. However, it's not as constantly loud like a football crowd is when their team is on defense. It's just a different kind of atmosphere.
I'm not even advocating for one over the other because they are both great and different my issue was with the comment that they "aren't even in the same stratosphere".

Thats what I said earlier. The heart of the club doesn't leave early while the student sections are out by the mid 3rd most the time.
No need for hyperbole. We aren't talking about LSU vs. Sam Houston State. I am talking about LSU vs. Bama, AU, Florida etc... At AU the student section starts filling up 2-3 hours before the biggest games and is packed until the game is over (or much longer if it's a big win).

I know you hate Celtic, but I have never seen an atmosphere like when they beat Barca in the UCL Group Stage at Celtic Park. And that was just on TV.
My first game in Tiger Stadium was the best one in the history of the venue. 1979 versus USC.
Just watching Dortmund home matches in a big match makes almost any SEC game seem like Romper Room.

um yes it is
its damn near deafening sometimes
also basically all stadiums are built with over hangs to keep noise in.

I just wanted to say that this thread really delivered.
SCH showing his family tree going way back to his Manchester roots. Also no other opinion could possibly be right except his.
'Pool fans with a pre-emptive defense of whatever stupid thing Balotti does next.
Pool/ManU bantz
Hardlines drawn in sand about stupid stuff no one really said
Randy came in late just to dissent
Man City stadium emptiness
Football can't compare to soccer
Come on little son, go to Europe and see what lifes really about
Even some random MLS bites.
It pretty much hit all of the board highlights in a very short period of time. Well done everyone!
