Just ridiculous how competitive the SEC West is going to be this year.

Really? You know this. Then I know A&M would slaughter the Wisconsin in much the same manner. So they should at least be 12.
I know how polls work, but they are flawed. Pre-season polls are virtually worthless (A&M proved this). They're based on nothing. But Once a team gets ranked preseason, there's an inelasticity that skews the polls.

You argue against arbitrarily ranking teams in the preseason and then use that same ranking to make your point for aTm.

how exactly am I doing the same thing? the pre-season is based on a number of things, one being not actual play on the field.
my ranking is solely based on what I have seen them do on the football field.

Because you are using South Carolina's preseason ranking to make your determination that a&m is a playoff team.

Based on the games I watched (which obviously wasn't all of them) I'd have UGA and TAMU in top 5 right now
TAMU went on the road and smoked a top 10 team
UGA looked good dropping the hammer on Clemson and they have the best player in America (IMO) in Gurley

You watched the Georgia/Clemson game? Didn't matter who the frick was in the backfield in the 2nd half. The first carry for the 4thstring tailback dude goes like 50 yards for a td. Hell I think the pope could have averaged 6 yards a carry against Clemson

Never said i supported it. Just the way it is. IMO, the first poll should come out in october.
