I have two little girls and have taken them both on dinner dates. One was for sushi and one was to Ruffino's.

Who else here did this?

My stepdaughter is 12 or 13 (I can't remember) and I'm supposed to take her on a date soon. I should probably make it more of a habit.

Seems pretty weird to me to call it a "date". Just seems you should call it a dinner.

My dad does that for my nieces when they get close to the age when they'll start dating. Got this whole routine down showing them how they should be treated and whatnot. Hopefully he'll still be doing it when my little girl is older.

Why do men morph into such weird fricks when they have a flock of girls?

Mine will be 4 soon. I try to take her for things. She's so adorable. We went fishing this weekend and she caught her first fish.

It's so important to give them that special attention.

Because if daddy doesn't, they'll start looking for it from someone else.

Why is it called a "date"?

Can you not call it dinner with your daughter?

When she gets older I will.

She is 3 now, but I make sure that we do plenty of daddy and daughter stuff.

Never did the daddy date thing but enjoy, they grow up real fast. I just sent my baby girl off to college a few weeks ago. We spent the entire Friday before we moved her to Waco on a Daddy-Daughter day; let her pick what to do and where to go. Started off at Cafe Dumonde in Quarter then went to the Aquarium, City Park to putt-putt then kayak. That evening we went to a movie (The Expendables....her choice). Was a nice day.

She's only been away for 2 weeks but the house is different without her being there.

Yes, I did this a couple times from age 8 - 16. She appreciated it and I think she knows how a lady is supposed to be treated.

We did daddy dates all the time growing up. Nothing dramatic like the video (my Dad is the silent/strong type), but trips to Home Depot.. fishing days together.. going eat somewhere.. etc.

Dad loves to take me/mom shopping too. Even still.

Random story: As a kid, I "hated" hotdogs. So my dad created the "Daddy Dog", which was a hotdog with a different name. I would go to birthday parties and say 'I don't eat hotdogs!' to the host, and Dad would run over rolling his eyes (simultaneously laughing) saying he'll make me a Daddy Dog

My daughter is 11 months old now and I absolutely cannot wait to do this with her. I love spending time with her.
I take her grocery shopping and I talk to her as if she's my best friend through the whole store.

I first read this and I thought you were talking about chaperoning for your daughters and their little boyfriends or whatever . I was imagining your average ranter sitting at a table with his daughter and some little punk showing off his new flat bill hat and DC's. I would probably pay to see that from afar.

This kind of thing reminds me of praise and worship music for Christians where the themes are being "in love with" Jesus.

I think the purpose is really good, but the analogies to romantic love just seem a little off.
