Play Calling Response Thread

I agree about the play calling.. It's like 2012 all over again.. Obvious runs on 1st and second, then obvious passing on 3rd and long. I mean... how hard is that to stop? I was calling the plays before they were snapped at the game based on formations.. If I can do this, what do you think a defensive coordinator can do? I disagree about Fournette, he had plenty of carries and didn't manage much. Although Jennings looked terrible and couldn't complete a simple screen pass... we only saw Harris for one series.. It's still too early to freak out.. NOT TO mention the series where we ran the FREAKING TOSS DIVE two plays in a row... I just hope by the state game they get a little more creative with the play calling, bubble screens, actually passing on first down, deep routes behind the secondary would be nice also. This team and the coaches have a long way to go.

Fournette had about 4.5 yds per carry, most on the team until the -11 yard toss.

STFU. Seriously, The arse in the Hat? Are you 12?

This team will be good, give them time.

What was Jennings? 4-14 in the first half?

I hate to agree with him, but in the first half we were very predictable when it came to offense. A lot of 1st down run, 2nd down run, 3rd down(around 3rd and 5-7 yards) pass.
Almost seemed any time Fournette came into the game he was the key player for the defense to watch. And almost every time, he got the football. Just imaging where the Wisconsin Defense would have been if we had play actioned to Fournette and threw down field.
The drive where we ran the ball down their defense came after a very pass happy offense. They couldn't stop our passing game so they went from their 3-4 to a nickel. They stayed in the nickel while we ran the ball at them.
This offense has the ability to be very explosive with all the skill players we have with a veteran offensive line. Just have to see it get a chance now.

My problem with Les Miles's offense is that he often seems more concerned with imposing his will than moving the ball. He'll crowd his own attack with lots of blockers and their defensive counterparts, thus sacrificing space and maneuverability. I keep wishing for the day a light comes on... that deception and unpredictability work EVEN BETTER with a talent advantage.

Nah, we ran the ball out of the shotgun for the first time in years on Saturday

It doesn't make any sense. Miles clearly prefers to have a mobile/running QB in the game (see 2011 for example and the fact that all of the pro-style passers in our program exited after last season). However, he refuses to run an offense that takes advantage of the QB's athletic ability. Lining an athletic QB up in a 2 TE, I formation seems to take away the advantage of having the athletic QB.
Go back and watch the film from Saturday. Our success in the run game came when we spread the field, put Jennings in shotgun and created running lanes. One reason this was successful is because Wisconsin had to account for Jennings ability to keep the ball. However, as soon as we got the lead, we went back to the two TE, I formation and were fortunate to be able to muster a first down at the end of the game. For a coach that is so determined to play an athletic QB, Miles refuses to run an offense that takes advantage of having a running QB.

1) Part of the reason we excel in the fourth quarter is all the punishment we deliver running the ball in the first half.
2) Being predictable causes the defense to start cheating. When you are highly likely to run on first and second down, the play action becomes all the more dangerous.
Of course the key to all this is that you have to have a modicum of success while predictable.

Playing close to the vest until it was time. Do I wish we had A offense as good as A & M??? SURE. But why don't we... With ALL this so-called talent... Why can't Les and his VERY HIGHLY paid OC provide us with this?????

So the rant is now calling for bubble screens.
We have come full circle ladies and gents.

There are no cfb teams that run a lot of diff plays. Hell auburn won the sec running the same play 75% of the time. Its about execution.

Seriously, eat shite and die. It appears you don't know football so just say you don't understand instead of proving you don't with shite posts like that
