The university's will just end up trading tv revenue for admission tickets.

Eventually the demand will drop and the capacity of tiger stadium will get decreased.

Well if we quit playing every OCC team with a pulse at a neutral site that might help.

You've missed the point of my post. Marquee/competitive teams don't want to play in Tiger Stadium. It's easier to convince a team, for both financial and competitive reasons to play at a neutral location. It sucks that this is what it's come to, but what can you really do? I think once people start to understand that college football is a massive business and everyone will do what is in their best interests financially and competitively, the "RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE" will begin to subside.

How big is the LSU student section?

It is WAY bigger than the 8500 average that shows up. I think in the past it has been as high as 15,000 but is now 14,600. The student section typically starts off a little more than half full and by half time, many of them have departed. They stay long enough to check in on Facebook, take a few selfies, then leave. By the 4th quarter of any game not involving Alabama, it is a ghost town.

I agree...but times have changed. I blame TV. They mystique of going to a game is nonexistent now. It used to be such that if you wanted to watch the game you had to go inside 90% of the time. Not so much any more.

College students have partied and drank since the advent of college. It's nothing new. What is new is this entire party culture that exist now in young people. This constant need to be somewhere doing something.

I encounter all the time people who go to a party and then spend that entire party on their phones trying to find something better. If they do, they go to that and the cycle repeats. With social media, people seem obsessed with always having that "best moment of your life" moment every single second.

Many kids are probably out once they can't even get a data signal. Many more are probably at the game simply because that's where everyone else says it's the place to be. If they find something "better" they're out.

To me, it's stupid, but it's apart of the college culture lately. Everyone is obsessed with the idea of having an amazing time rather then actually having one

It doesn't even have to be "marquee" but at least a team that's in a power 5 conference. shite ULM is hosting Wake Forest. Not a power house but a much more well known name than some of the other pushovers we play. Don't act like there are no teams in a power 5 that want to do a home and home.

allotted tickets or actual attendance?

Just saw it's in the chart. I'm kind of surprised it's not larger than 9,000 or so. Granted, also from the chart, UW is right around 11,000 or so, but they sell 14,000 tickets. So I would assume LSU also sells a couple thousand more than they average.

And now we have 24 hr. secnw. The revenue from that ought to be put towards ticket pricing and parking imo.

I would probably blame TV on the lack of people in regular seats. The student section I would blame more on social media and cellphones

How about service academies like Air Force, Navy, or Army?

How about Utah, BYU, Cal, NC State, Boston College, Duke, etc.?

All bigger names without much fear of a loss.

Prices to park are mind blowing, LSU just took away parking on Burbank( they have no idea how bad they fricked up there). Tvs are getting nicer, bigger, and cheaper, so staying in the AC and watching the game sounds good to most.

It's across the CFB landscape. Sell beer, have good wi-fi and don't charge insane prices to park.

THIS THIS and THIS.

(parking less of issue for students)

Get the traffic moving better as well and people won't leave as early to beat it. More public transportation provided from Tigerland, Walmarts, Downtown, etc. to the stadium as well.

Wifi and beer though will really help keep people from leaving early.

Parking is a massive mess and I'm not sure why LSU can't seem to get it together. There are simply to many people on campus. LSU would be smart to invest in a off campus garage with a public transit shuttle system to the campus. That's never going to happen though.

The answer is extremely simple. Alcohol is not sold or consumed in the stadium. When I was in school, any activity past 2:30 on a weekend that didn't have alcohol had horrible attendance. This was 10 years ago and I can guarantee you it hasn't changed much.
