Brad Woodhouse of the Soros-backed American Bridge 21st Century argued that it is okay for his group to accept money from liberal billionaires because, unlike the Koch Brothers, these donors are “not looking to screw the middle class to enrich themselves.”

If true, this may be the funniest thing I've read all day.

Democrats' motto should be 'Screwing the middle class for the last 50 years"

1) Small governments have always proscribed and/or regulated immoral behavior. Many folks believe that abortion is immoral. Some believe it's murder. That's why this is not "hypocrisy". You are wrong.

2) Your minimum wage and Wall St. bonus argument is completely nonsensical. FedGov mandates on higher wages are unlike a private corporation paying executives. Somehow you think there's a logical nexus between mandating higher minimum wage and "allowing" a private company to pay executives with bonuses. Wrong.

Stop being silly.

From a guy who time after time has demonstrated that he is the biggest "do as I say, not as I do" liberal on this board.

Ever since Jane Mayer’s recent New Yorker piece earlier this month, much of the media has risen to debate how much influence conservative and libertarian-leaning businessmen David and Charles Koch, the owners of Koch Industries, have in American politics.
Some critics of the article argue that the media cries foul over the Koch brothers, yet largely ignores liberal George Soros, the Hungarian-American currency speculator and stock investor, who has spent millions of dollars on liberal and nonpartisan causes (including the Center for Responsive Politics).

quote:

VERDICT: When it comes to the combination of institutional lobbying, 527 group donations and PAC expenditures, Koch Industries far out-spends Soros’ hedge fund and think tank, $57.4 million to $12.8 million. Most of this money is attributable to lobbying expenditures.

quote:

As mentioned previously, Soros spent $24 million in under two years and did so in his determination to defeat George W. Bush in 2004. He told the Washington Post in November 2003, “America under Bush, is a danger to the world. I’m willing to put my money where my mouth is.” Since December 2008, Soros has only donated $4,000 to these types of groups. On June 30th of this year, David Koch made a $1 million donation to the Republican Governors Association, his largest one-time donation to date.

quote:

Soros certainly wins the 527 group spending battle, beating the Koch brothers $32.5 million to $1.5 million. A graph below show the history these donations (click on graph for full size):

quote:

VERDICT: Soros rules this category, having poured more than $34.2 million into political channels, compared to $4.06 million for the Koch brothers.

quote:

VERDICT: Given the difficultly in tracking donations to nonprofits and charitable organizations, it’s almost impossible to quantify whether the Koch brothers or Soros dominate this political realm. That said, both the Kochs and Soros have spent incredible riches in this area with no sign of stopping.

The NRA is not one guy dipshit. That is the difference. If like minded people (like NRA members) don't band together to pursue their wants how the frick is anybody other than billionaires supposed to be heard? Think before you post kneejerk shite and you won't look like a fool.

from the article cited with that stat, found within teh article

quote:

The political network spearheaded by conservative billionaires Charles and David Koch has expanded into a far-reaching operation of unrivaled complexity,

quote:

The filings show that the network of politically active nonprofit groups backed by the Kochs and fellow donors

quote:

Together, the 17 conservative groups that made up the network raised at least $407 million during the 2012 campaign

quote:

The donor network organized by the Kochs — along with funding an array of longtime pro-Republican groups such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Rifle Association and Americans for Tax Reform

Finally,

quote:

It is unclear how much of the network’s funds came directly from the Kochs

so you posted a completely bogus stat that is a lie at worst or a complete ignorant misrepresentation at best. don't be a hack

oh, and from that very article

quote:

The left has its own financial muscle, of course; unions plowed roughly $400 million into national, state and local elections in 2012.

No hypocrisy is establishing laws to protect man's right to life, and then enabling the murder of innocent and defenseless human beings, even though science is continuing to show that life begins and is sustainable closer and closer to conception

Not all Koch money is bad. You have to be open-minded and take these things on a case by case basis. For example, Koch UNCF money is good. Bloomberg anti-gun money is bad. Soros pro-liberal money is bad. Adelson pro-war money is bad.

As long as I don't have to pay for birth control or abortion I don't care. As long as employers are not forced to pay for them for their employees I don't care. Don't scream employer get out of my vagina but pay for my vagina.

Congress makes enough money. Look at their stock portfolios, Super PACs, side business deals, speaking fees, books, retirement plans and benefits, etc...
