Gyno, what do you think of my trade I just updated in the Charles trade thread?
I gave Percy/Pierre Thomas for Ball

As has been said just being in that offense with manning, he will get a bunch of fantasy points. It's pretty much what happened with Moreno last year, and Moreno had shown up to before last year to not be more than an average nfl rb.
I'm nervous about Ball because I think that the Bronco's offense will come back to earth some from last year, and Ball's involvement in the offense will be limited almost exclusively by how much he can get onto the field.
It's his first year as "the guy," and if he has issues catching the ball or blocking then he will lose reps to someone who does a better job with those things. Strangely enough I think that his value as a rb is more tied to blocking ability than running ability. He could be a very good option. I just see it as risky to assume that he will be reliable enough in those areas to do what Moreno did last year.

Anyone who doubts Ball is not paying attention. The only backs I have over Ball is Charles, Peterson, Shady, Forte, and Lacy.

There's a definite drop off between those people you listed and Ball due to greater risk. They are in a different tier.

Right, they are top 5 and Ball should go near the end of the 1st round. Ball certainly has top 5 upside tho, with a considerably lower floor.

No shite, but who else would you take over Ball? The only ones to even consider are Lynch and Murray.
I think Ball finishes top 3 by the way.

Ball got 8 touches on the first drive last week. 8!
At this point you are wasting your breath trying to get these dudes to realize there is zero risk with Ball unless he gets hurt. Just have to let it play out at this point.

Lynch, Murray, Ball, Bernard, maybe even Ellington are all in the tier of rb's after that top group. How you rank them depends on your thoughts on them. I would consider taking a couple of the top wr's, qb's, and maybe graham before them. There is a big difference between that group of running backs and the ones you listed. You feel good about him, but Ball isn't the for sure can't miss pick that you claim. That's all.

Are you new to fantasy football? There's no such thing.

I am just sad not to get Ball yet in my two drafts. Maybe I can land him in my third, but I am less invested in that league.

Also according to the chart posted earlier, Welker had 7 TD's last year from passes within 5 yards of the LOS. Ball could see more receiving TD's with Welker out.

Sanders is going to be a TD machine, IMO. He fits in perfectly...according to that chart mentioned.

Moreno is a pretty terrible RB and thrived last year behind Manning.
How come the better Ball couldn't beat out a pretty terrible RB like Moreno? Was it just John Fox being John Fox?
From what I saw, Ball was awful in pass protection early in the season, and for whatever reason Fox didn't go back to him even as he was improving throughout the year. I'm not investing a 1st round pick in a guy with 120 career carries. Feel free to roll the dice with your 1st rounder but I prefer more of a resume from my 1st pick.
And FWIW I had McGahee 2 years ago and Addai in 2010

John Fox hates rookies. John Fox hates rookies protecting 37 yr old franchise players even more.
Ball graded out better than Moreno later, but Fox had his trust in Moreno at that point. Plus Denver was kicking arse and taking names so why change.
However, the fact that Denver let Moreno walk is very telling.

I'm not here to say Moreno is anything special. Trust me, I know the guy sucks.
If Denver doesn't break the scoring record last year do you think Moreno scores 10 TDs? With the Broncos playing the NFC West and AFC East it's going to be a little tougher sledding for Ball.

He is the main guy in a very productive role in that offense. Moreno was very avg until Manning came along. Ball will do well I think. Hillman will get some touches too.

I would have to assume it was mostly to do with him being a rookie and needing to learn the playbook a little better and develop better skills in pass pro.
I've taken him in Round 2 in 2 drafts so far and have been happy about it.
