What was the best novel you ever had to read for school?

I would go with Heart of Darkness, which I am well aware is a novella, but it is close enough.

My least favorite would be the Joy Luck Club.

Huckleberry Finn and it's not close.

Hmmm.

Gone With The Wind is up there. I actually liked Dracula a lot too.

To Kill A Mockingbird

Sort of cliche, but I loved it. Nothing else I had to read came close.

ETA: Gatsby is a close second. Don't know how I forgot about that one.

Lord of the Flies was good.

I really liked that book. I'm not an avid reader but that was a really good book.

Not the best I ever read, but the best I *had* to read was Ivan Denisovich.

Funny thing is that I didn't read most of them while in high school.

I skipped the assigned reading in high school and read the books in college.

Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, For Whom the Bell Tolls are 3 of my favorites.

While the plot in Gatsby is very good, the imagery and prose make that book
