If it doesn't work out I'll float it down to you and you can have a free dock extension

We built one out of square tubing to hold the plastic barrels. Has 8 I think and hunts 4 pretty easy. Drive the boat right under it. Got the barrels for about 35 a piece.

I have posted this before and here it is again: LINK floating duck blind

Floating duck blind from a plastic island you can plant stuff surrounding you. I think it's just really neat but I'm sure it's $$$$$$

Here is one a friend and I designed and built.. It has 6 55 gallon drums.. The two upright barrels are partially filled to act as a counterbalance for the weight when we are in the blind.

Is it pretty sturdy with 4 guys in it?

Ya I couldn't even tell we were in a floating blind unless the wind was really howling. Hunted 4 guys plenty of times and never had any balance problems. Has 4 in the front and 4 in the back turned long ways.

Did you post that here before when you designed it? It looks familiar.

I want to say everyone here had an argument against it and said the vertical barrels would not be stable bc of the design?

If so how did it hold up?

My avi picture came from hunting that blind the 1st season it was installed. It is the real deal, I don't hunt out of floating blinds much but that was definitely the nicest I have been in.

That is pretty sweet. How do you move it with the 2 upright barrels?

We did a similar layout to hogdaddy only we would fabricate the frames from steel (no salt water)We would also put large shackles on all 4 corners and when the blind was in place we would drive pipe stem through the shackles - this would keep it stationary while still allowing it to rise and fall with the water level.

It is holding up really well!! No complaints.. We have added a few things since that pic but nothing extravagant.. New roof and supports bc the old sheets warped (expected) and built in a dog ramp out of the front on hinges.. Here is a pic of it brushed and with the new dog ramp.

I have cleats on all sides of the main blind and I drag it with my little job boat.. I don't go far with it so it isn't a problem.. Not sure what I would do it I had to go a long way...

Looking back at this thread, I really like this idea and design. We would do something a little bit longer, but the concept it great.

Tcomea3, would you mind shooting me an email if you see this?

ETA we are going to start the frame on Saturday.
