It seems to me looking back that I've changed a bunch since college. Almost a complete 180.

Old FB post kind of got me thinking about this. I was a partier, publicly opinionated person then. Now, I'm very quiet and reserved. So much so that people consider me awkward, which is hard to grasp because I don't feel awkward. In college, I was highly sociable.

I guess at some point I just got weird in the past 7 years. I can't really pinpoint it. It kind of just snuck up on me.

I've had 3 people that work with me remark in the past week how quiet I am. I don't even know their names to be honest. I just see no reason to socialize with them at work. I even had an old boss fill out a recommendation form for me and under weakness put "Works extremely independently and is very quiet. So much people perceive him as socoally awkward."

Thanks boss.

I'm going to reiterate the same thing I posted in the friends thread: When you start your career and take on more responsibilities you aren't as social. My employees tend to be a bit shocked when they hear old stories or run into me away from work.

I'm very reserved. I forced myself to be more social in college, because I wanted the whole experience. But I've reverted back to my norm. I don't like to be around people that much.

Several times.

Makes me wonder if it ever really changed or did I finally just accept it. I know it temporarily utchanged during periods of alcohol abuse, but even when sober I "changed." But, maybe I didn't, maybe I just uncovered and accepted it

Had one say this to me today.

I'm jut not as interested in others as I used to be. Putting away childish things, I guess. More focused on myself and family.

I don't know. I'm too alpha to perform self-analysis let alone give a frick about the results of one.

Just keep on keeping on brother.

The only reason people stop partying is because they have kids or can't afford it anymore.

I seem to be the opposite of everyone else here. I was shy and awkward until about 25 or 26. Then I became a social butterfly, and I've been that way for the last 5 years.

Yes.

I graduated May '13 & already noticed changes.

Mainly I'm more of a recluse (never use to be shy in public) because I don't want to run into coworkers/clients/etc. that can say "wow brody's lettuce you were quite the show at 'insert bar'". Or running into a colleague at HEB and having to talk about peaches/grapes/tomatoes/whatever.

It's probably more of a I'm young & don't want to frick up in front of people above me thing, but damn I just want to feel normal again.

Married with kids and work from home. If it weren't for TD I wouldn't socialize with anyone. I wasn't much of a "partier" type in college either, but I did like to go out. More of a lounge drinker than a bar hopper.

Yes.

I use to be a wild man.

now I just like to sit back and watch other people do crazy shite when I go out to a bar or something.

social skills are about the same I guess.

I can talk to anybody but I don't make a point do so anymore. I guess that's the difference.

I had a bad temper when I was younger. Some time about 7-8 years ago I just stopped getting mad. It was like an epiphany, "let it all go". I just don't get angry anymore. Yes some things bother me and such, but I can't remember the last time I got mad about something.

You seem like a pretty weird dude based on all your dumb posts coupled with unrealistic negativity.

I think everyone changes with age. Especially men as they age and their testosterone level drops, they become more calm.

Constantly. It's called growth.

I realized I should find joy in everyday, as it was a gift. I don't sweat the small stuff any longer. I'm much happier now.

Absolutely. Most of us spend our lives saying "when (insert self-determined objective here) happens, then I'll be happy." And that thing never happens or the goal line keeps moving. Meanwhile you squander wonderful days that can be full if happiness.
