Stop being Dick Cheney.

We went to war in Iraq because the executive branch wanted to go to war in Iraq.

You're a typical LWA.

You deliberately continue to miss the point I was making so you don't have to address it.

Well, Congress unanimously agreed. And why is that?

No, but the belief in this ridiculous piece of propaganda is.

America has the best military on the planet, we can hurt you in many ways. But the one thing we have ALWAYS sucked at is intel, especially HUMINT.

I just finished Ghost Front, Charles Whiting, which lays out intelligence failure after intelligence failure during the Ardennes buildup. Korea and Vietnam were also huge failures.

Adequate intelligence in this situation means you have an eye witness that can confirm the location of the target at the time of the rescue attempt so yes, it was failed intelligence.

The case for WMD's in Iraq was also failed intelligence but in that situation there was proof that Saddam had used WMD's both against Iran and against his own people. Couple that with Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, the burning of oil fields and the violation of numerous U.N. resolutions and there was more than ample justification for invading Iraq and ousting Saddam. How quickly we forget the inconvenient truth and oh yea, hiney sight is always 20/20.

your point is so stupid it can't be refuted.

Your point: If there were ever intelligence failures then it's ok we went to war in Iraq for no good reason.

Or

If there were ever intelligence failures then there could've been WMDs in Iraq.

THERE WERE NO WMD'S. It's like living in a fact-free zone.

Maybe you're just so stupid you can't refute it.

Nope. That's not the point that I was making.

Nope, that's not the point I was making.

Here's a hint.

Reread my posts in this thread.

Geez, it's like living in the Twilight Zone.

The thing I don't get here, is that a lot of people that blame Obama for the failed rescue attempt are the same people who won't give him credit for getting Bin Laden. I just wish people were consistent. It really undermines arguments when you're not.

I used to be in that business. When there's a failure they ALWAYS blame it on us. When it's a success, the operators all pat themselves on the back about how awesome they are.

Of course there were. One of the silliest propoganda lies in history, because now even people like Bush and Powell say it.

There were loads and loads of WMDs in Iraq at the time of the invasion - there had been for decades.

The nuclear program was broken, but it existed. Part of the problem is that they were too scared to give Saddam real reports about it, so they lied to him. Even Saddam thought he had a more robust nuke program than he had.

But, go ahead - keep spinning and spinning the lie - so that we never get to really talk about what really happened.
