I've seen lots of these tests and Frog Lube has usually failed in the long term corrosion protection tests compared to BF CLP, CorrosionX, and several others. WD-40 is also one that typically doesn't do very well, same with Ballistol, RemOil, PB, and Liquid Wrench. The WD40 Specialist is not something you'd want to use to store firearms with, it's like using fogging oil. I'd take this one with more than a grain of salt.

High powered rifles is what I clean most. Copper fouling can affect accuracy big time.

It can, but I dont really clean my rifle anymore than I clean my pistols. Typically, its around 400-500 rounds through each that they actually get cleaned. Whenever I start shooting better than the gun or when the groups open up. Other than that, I just wipe the bolt down, if someone touches my barrel we might just fight.

I wouldn't WD on a weapon.

I run copper solvent after each outing. That crap builds up and it's a PIA to get out. BreakFree CLP and Hoppes #9 are very mild against copper, I leave the bores wet with those and weeks to months later I'll run a patch and get some more fouling off. Hoppes Bench Rest copper solvent works much faster but I have to bother with cleaning the brushes and swabs before that stuff eats them up.

How many rounds before I should clean my rifle? It was purchased in 1989, and has probably been shot 300 times total. That's including a few shots on paper each year, about 120 or so deer, a couple red-eared sliders, a mockingbird, a couple armadillos, 10 coyotes (or other dogs) or so, 2 guineas, a 5-gallon propane tank, an ostrich, a 276/65/16 Nitto on a Dodge pickup, 12 or so hogs, a few watermelons, a beaver, couple coons (ra), and a lame guernsey heifer. Kept on back seat of truck or under bed 90% of the time.

You're good. You must live by the same thoughts I do.

Before the boating accident, I would wipe down anything that I touched. If a piece was handled it would receive a wipe down with Breakfree or Eeezox.

All of those case lube products are a huge waste of money.

I bought a can of that Hornady One Shot, it was 10 bucks and I might have gotten 1K cases lubed from it.

If you reload a lot, the best lube you can get is one you can make yourself.

1 part lanolin to 10 parts isopropyl alcohol. Use the highest proof you can get, 90 proof or better is what you need.

You do have to melt the lanolin in the alcohol, just use a double boiler on an electric source.

Stuff is slicker than owl snot and goes a long way. I've never had a stuck case with it. Can't say the same for some of those lube products I've purchased.

Once melted, just pour it in a spray bottle and get after it.
