For some reason people haven't learned to not travel with weed in the car.

When is everyone freaking out?
Nothing is going to happen this year. Jerome Simpson got popped for DUI last year and is just now getting his suspension (and appealing it).
If anything, Bell could get a could games in 2015 once the legal process plays out.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount "probably face no more than a one-game suspension and that won't come anytime soon."
There's plenty of precedent here that will allow Bell and Blount to suit up for the entire season. In cases like this pending marijuana possession charge, the NFL waits for the legal process to play out before handing down discipline under the personal conduct policy. Lawyers won't have a problem delaying any proceedings. Note that Dwayne Bowe was caught with marijuana in a car last November, and didn't get hit with his one-game ban until last week.

He will not be the work horse back for any game.
Heard this morning that Steelers may self-impose discipline right now, but it's unlikely that the league will do anything in 2014. Said that DeWayne Bowe's infraction occurred last November and he's just now serving his one game. If the Steelers self-impose, look for the time off to be staggered so as not to hurt the team. Bell in week one, the Blount in week two, for instance.

IMO, and this is just me, no source, Steelers need to deal for BJGE. He has enough gas in the tank to handle spot duty so the Steelers can save face with self-discipline. The Bengals could get something for him, and he's on the bubble anyway. Other option is to wait for the cut to 53 and see if a BJGE-type falls. Not sure where the Steelers are on waiver list. Only problem is that the last cut is not until the 30th and self-imposed discipline would probably occur in week 1.

Bell, Blount to play

Pittsburgh Steelers running backs Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount will play in Thursday night's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles, sources told ESPN's Ed Werder, despite the fact they will be charged with marijuana possession after a traffic stop Wednesday.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin met with the players Thursday morning as he decided how to proceed, and a source says that it will be "business as usual'' for Bell and Blount because the Steelers have a lot to work on offensively.

Can't see any league suspensions this year for L. Bell and L. Blount of the Steelers. It took 10 months for D Bowe to get his suspension.

Try to soften the blow from the league? And to teach their guys a lesson?
Posted on 8/21/14 at 5:21 pm to bigeztiger
Fair enough. I would just let the league deal with it after the court proceedings wrap up.

Well, when I say self-impose, I'm thinking something that won't hurt too bad. Like when they say the player won't be allowed to start the game, but will come in after the first quarter. Nothing serious, but something to reaffirm the teams commitment to family values.
