I think he was talking about these. Which are only acceptable if you are a college professor or work in IT

I'm sorry Eddie... you have all of the qualifications we could ever ask for and then some... I think you would do a great job here.

To be honest I can't really see how black shoes work with khakis. Usually I see them on dorks and they're of the moc lace up variety.

It doesn't really bother me on others, but I couldn't do it. Once you get a mantra stuck in your head for dress at the office, I feel clownish when I break the rule. It'd feel like wearing dress slacks without a belt or something.

Again. That's not what he's saying. You obviously need to be good at your job, but perception does come into play. In most cases as someone moves up the ladder, they become more external facing for the company and thus carry that with them.

They are going to want someone who is competent and is perceived as competent by others.

Boot companies need to start running PSAs in Louisiana to let yall know that there are, despite reports to the contrary, other boots besides the Ariat Rambler.

Well, it depends on what the position is for. Also, the way you dress can give off an energy of either sophistication or immaturity.

I don't really pay attention to how other dudes dress at the office unless you look like a complete joke.

Khaki slacks with black shoes? Are you 12?
Square toe dress shoes? Are you a clown?
Black shirt and bright colored tie? Mother of god.

Wanna know how I know that you tongue stab other guy's bung holes?

At the office though. Any sane or adjusted person would agree you have to dress accordingly for meetings and outside exposure. Jobs which require a lot of face time, higher up and managerial positions certainly require you to present yourself in a more professional manner than those around and below you. Plus for jobs that require lots of outside exposure, presentation is a part of being good at your job.

Edited cause I didn't want to insult OP's job status.

Meh. People judge others and they are in turn judged by others on appearance. It's always been this way.

I never get why ppl wear clothing with huge logos on it. I mean, you aren't a race car driver.

Now if you're a sales rep for Columbia it would be ok.

Square toes should be outlawed.

They're heinous looking be it boot or shoe. That's my opinion.

Square toe footwearers assemble and tell me what gravitational force drew you to them?

A college professor called me and asked if I would help out a guy who needed help finding work. I agreed to help him. I called the guy and asked him to meet me at my office and that I wanted to introduce him to some people. I arranged all this to help him out. He showed up in my office wearing khaki cargo shorts, an opened button-down short-sleeved shirt over a white t-shirt, medium-high white socks, and tennis shoes. I was pretty livid. The guy is still unemployed.

Notice I that observed everything he was wearing. Does it make me ghey? No. It just means I know how businessmen are supposed to dress, and that was not it.
