I think he's referring to people saying that they can say whatever they want and not have to pay consequences for it.

The problem here is that saying "bless you" after someone sneezes isn't religious at all. Not anymore at least.

Well of course that's just dumb. But in his post he even quotes the teacher's disdain for "godly" remarks. That's entirely different.

It was banned particularly for its religious connotation.
