No shite...the actual photos are bad enough as evidence. Social media would have been the death of us.

Sounds like we have a bunch of people up in here that don't like freedom..

I like freedom just fine. I also like my privacy and being able to do things, whatever they may be, without others thinking that everyone needs to know about it.

At the same time...I laugh at my mother who always says all the stuff she sees going on in society never happened back in her day. Idiots, morons, and degenerates have been around forever.

Just didn't hear about it as much. Hell...I was in boarding school from 8th grade to 11th. The hazing that went on then comparative to now was ridiculous.

The movies were better IMO in the 80's than any other decade.

Has anyone taken this privacy away from you? Are you forced onto social media?

The 80s were certainly a better time to be a kid.

I was born in the late 80s, and maintain that being a kid in the 90s was unparalleled. We had the cartoons and programming, Nickelodeon at its peak, the Disney Renaissance and beginnings of Pixar, and took huge leaps in technology including home PCs, cell phones, and video games. I think I was in the last generation of kids to get the childhood where you spend lots of time outside as it became increasingly better to stay in and play Nintendo or Playstation. Even my brother who's a decade younger was inside much more than I ever was.

But I digress...I've always thought the 80s would be a great time to be college/young adult age. Music was much better than today and social interaction was much more prevalent. Technology is great and has made our lives easier, but has also hindered society in many ways unfortunately.
At the same time, it's increased quality of life with advances in healthcare curing diseases once thought a death sentence, prolonging life expectancy, etc. It's a give and take thing I think...you have to take the good with the bad.

You've been proven wrong many times on the msb, at least about basketball.

Also, the burden of proof lies on you in this case.

Yes...anyone who takes a picture and posts it without my consent is taking away this privacy. For what it's worth, my friends and family do not post pics, videos, etc. without my consent. They know I don't like it.

Nope...and rarely do I participate in it. However, if I choose to do it, then I've made that choice.

Well if they aren't then who is? And what's so special about you that randoms take pictures of whatever you're doing and post it online? Are you famous?

The 90's were incredible. Good Economy, Pre-9/11, No Major War for Prolonged Period Of Time (Iraq Conflict). Some tech, not like we have now but widespread use of the internet started. Early 90's Pop Music was actually really good, you could turn on the radio and not throw up in your mouth.

I do think we reminisce about certain periods of time during our formative years (the 90's were mine).

Holding all else equal, having more options is always better.

Scenario 1:

play outside

Scenario 2:

play outside (or)
play video games

Scenario 2 is better than scenario 1. You can do everything in scenario 1 that you want plus another option. That is pretty much what I see this argument coming down to. That people can do whatever they did in the 80's but they have an option to do more.

Why do people choose to do things differently than the 80's? Because they decide to. You still have that option.

The only possible negative to options is if a person makes an inferior choice. I still think that having the opportunity to make the decision creates a given appreciation of the decision you make, whether it is to play outside or play video games (in example above).

Yeah but you missed out on being a teenager in the 90s which was even better than being a kid in the 90s or 80s.

I think the raising of the drinking age and pussification of America is why I'd give the 80's the win. But I was born in 92

The movies...seriously..!! Terminator series, Aliens series, rambo series, Rocky series, platoon, Apocoplyspe now, breakfast club, karate kid, back to future, goonies, raiders of lost ark, star wars! ferris bueler, top gun, ghostbusters, footloose, Lost boys.

Clothes..wow...parachute pants, tight roled jeans, starter jackets, High tops, crazy wear, Jordache, stone washed jeans,

Ronald reagan, no interent, no cell phones, drinking age was 18....80's were wayyy better.
