Lol call me biased because I was born in the 80's, but besides the technology, the 80's seems like such a cooler decade than the one we're living in right now. The movies and music were MUCH better in the 80's, and the fashion styles of the decade were very unique. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for the technological innovations since the 80's (Internet, video games, better cars, healthcare, etc.) but life just seemed like it was good in the 80's all around. For those of you who lived through that decade, what do y'all think? Were the 80's better than the days we're living in now?

Sounds to me like someone has been jamming the new Taylor Swift album on repeat.

Ha so you ask for proof that you're wrong, get it, and then you're "over talking". Sums it up nicely.

The one little snippet about childhood obesity doesn't make the rest of the crap you said right. Regardless, I was just over talking with you because you're annoying.

I went to high school in the 80s. My life is better now because I have a successful business and two great kids. But otherwise the 80s were the bomb.

80's might go down as the best decade in American history...

I was born in the 80s, but most other generations would call it the corniest and most violent decade in American history.

50's might have something to say about that though

On the other hand, the 50s was the worst decade aside from maybe the 30s and 10s of the 20th century. A great time to be a conservative white male, but sucked to be anything else.

You could roll out of bed, go meet your friends and your parents didn't worry about you until the street lights came on. They didn't have to.
This is the biggest myth started by the media from the dumbasses who prolly grew up in the 80's. America is far safer now then it was then

Even if it's true that perception has become reality and parents are much more protective of their kids. The whole "come home when the streetlight comes on" is far less prevalent now.

Even most kids that are still very active are active in controlled/supervised environments.

Haha Alatgr, good one! Sure, I was very young in the 80's and obviously didn't know what was going on around me. But through the use of media, you can look back at the movies, music, fashion, culture, etc. of the decade. Watching movies from the 80's gives you a glimpse into what life was like back then. Listening to the music takes you back in time to that era. So a person doesn't necessarily have to live through a certain decade to get an idea of what it was like.

Technology and video games are way better today and allow for a level of convenience that blows the 1980's away.

But because we didn't have certain things at the ready then as we do now, TV shows, special events, etc.seemed more special.

Healthcare, automobiles, LSU and Saints football, daily comforts and no USSR are better today compared to the 1980's.

I was an adolescent during the 1980's and loved being a kid at that time (better than now) but other than the post-punk rock being better then than most of the crap today, I'd rather be an adult during this decade than the 1980's.

It's a lot more sterile too. Not sure I like the trade off.

I was 11 in 1980. I'd give ANYTHING to go back and do the entire decade all over again. Most of my best memories are from the 80s.

The 80s were a waaaaaaaaaay better time to be a kid, teenager, or college student, but now is a much better time to be an adult

Exactly. My kids are missing out and know nothing of delayed gratification, but I'm far more comfortable than adults in the 80's.

The 80s was a fun time, music was fun, colors were bright. Didnt have to worry about all the violence going on.
Now days all this crap music i mean rap music talks about is violence and doing drugs, etc. Kids walking around with their pants hanging off their butts. Sad.
