Original, Unaltered Cut Of Star Wars Trilogy To Be Released On Blu-ray By Disney
quote:
According to our sources, Disney has plans to release the original cut of the Star Wars trilogy on Blu-ray. Our sources indicate that the project has been under way for quite some time, but it’s been challenging because of some damage to the original negatives they are utilizing. The goal is to release A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of Jedi in their complete, unaltered, original form without the redone special edition SFX.

I haven't seen the original cuts in like 15+ years. I hope this is true.

Unlike the 06 releases on dvd, these BETTER be anamorphic.

Fwiw, Disney announced they were going to do this the day they bought the franchise.

Oh, I hope this is true.
I bought the originals years ago on eBay, from a guy who'd transferred his laserdisc copies to DVD. The quality is decent, but, the edges of the screen are cut off a little and it's annoying.
Blu Ray originals would be so cool...

I prefer the originals, but will admit to liking some of the changes.
There are some great fan edits that are basically the original version with the new updated effects.

I still have my original Empire Strikes Back VHS.
We got it in 1981 as a present for us kids. Cost $89.00 through the video rental store.
That would be $225 today.
So, then we wised, bought another VCR to copy.
