So I've lived in Houma, BR, Nola before although I didn't have a lot of money on me during those times.

I'm considering moving back to south LA and it doesn't really matter where I live since I'm working offshore now. Any suggestions for some areas to live? I'm considering somewhere in the NOLA area but I'm open to all suggestions.

If your single or even married with no kids, I would buy a condo in the Warehouse District.

If you have kids, I would buy a house in Mandeville/Madisonville.

Houseboat in Galliano.

After a year you'll appreciate anywhere else.

Of course I could name about 6 areas of N.O. you would probably like.
If I had to pick another area it would probably be in old town Covington or on the lake in Old Mandeville.

Whatever keeps you away from trash and rednecks.

Well if you're gonna pick a town in south louisiana based on political beliefs then your options are limited. You can live on the Northside in Lafayette. I heard they love them some Obama.

Go with NOLA. Lafayette gets old after a while. Especially if you are single.

If you're single-Lafayette
If you have kids-Lafayette
Best food outside of New Orleans- Lafayette
Close to off shore work but still nice- Lafayette
Want to live the thug life- north Lafayette

ETA: I forgot you're a liberal. Lafayette is probably not the best place for you. Stick with Nola
