Best way to get rid of malware for SaleItCoupon links?

I got some malware on my laptop that runs Windows 8 from stupidly clicking on something from FirstRowSports while trying to stream a soccer game this summer. (I thought I needed to download some FreeHD viewer in order to watch the game.)
Anyway, I have been using AdBlocker on my Chrome browser to prevent all the embedded hotlinks to spam ads since then, but just the past few days, I've been getting all these SaleItCoupon links popping up all over the damn place on my browser, and it is seriously slowing down my computer and making it virtually impossible to do even ordinary browsing anymore.
I've searched for this particular type of malware on Google and didn't see anything. Any idea what might be the best way to get rid of this malware? I don't think Avast is helping to block it, and I don't want to purchase some malware blocker only to find out after that it doesn't work on this.

in all complete honesty, you need to nuke the planet from space, its the only way to be sure.
coming from personal experience, i've tried to 'chase' malware throughout my computer..once it gets on there though, you're pretty much SOL..it was always one step ahead of me, erasing key system DLLs and changing its own name to match those, etc.
i fancied myself a pretty clever sort and wouldn't give up the chase..but damned if i didn't come up on the losing end..anti malware, antivirus, browser dumps, registry cleaners, etc the whole 9 yards.
it still won and even when i felt i had it on the run, i never felt 'clean'.
COLOSSAL and I repeat COLOSSAL waste of time and energy.
my absolute best advice is to backup anything crucial..and reinstall windows from scratch.
its really the only way you're going to feel 'clean'.

google hijackthis. I've had great success with it, but be careful with it, and get help with someone that has used it before when analyzing the log. Back in the day g4tv.com had a great tech support board that had a lot of HJT experts.

Open Internet Explorer
Right click on the top most bar. Ensure "Command Bar" is checked. This command bar will show "Tools".
If the previous suggestions do not work, try this.
Click:
Internet Explorer
Tools
Internet Options
Security
Restricted Sites
Key in "www.saleitcoupon.info"
click "add"
It will add what is to the left of it, so don't add your home page!
This should block that website from your computer, if the pop ups are coming from that site.
As previously mentioned, Malewarebytes works wonders.

Thanks all to have responded!
I thought I had uninstalled everything from June, but apparently some stuff was still installed that I didn't realize. I also removed some stuff from my browser add-ons.
My computer is working okay again.... for now...
I think I will look into Malewarebytes and/or getting a new laptop soon.
