So is it official that P5 teams will now only play each other?

Maybe I missed it but it's been unclear to me if that aspect is actually happening?
I for one hope it happens. I'm tired of a quarter of college football being shitty matchups.

I don't think so.

some teams need those types of wins, and they outnumber the teams that don't want to play P5 opponents

I don't want to lose home games. Just cut out the FCS games, and I'll be satisfied.

Probally not. It doesn't happen often but some P5 teams have rivals that are not P5.
Example-Colorado vs Colorado State.
Most teams wouldn't miss these games but some of the contenders may want to play a smaller school as an almost bye week. I like the idea of dropping the FCS games.

Yes, because P5 bottom dwellers are fun to watch.

No need, the top of FCS is better than the bottom of FBS anyway. Hell North Dakota State would wipe the floor with almost anyone in the MAC or Sub Belt.

Me too but what are going to do when someone drop a scheduled game with Bama and you guys can't find anyone but a FCS school to come in? I am sure that's why Bama has played a few games with these schools because that's pretty what has lead LSU to schedule them too.

All they did was poll the coaches. There was no vote and there likely won't be one for quite some time. But yes, attendance at college games will continue being an issue if they don't give us a decent product every week. The current disorganized mess is ridiculous. College football needs to go Big 5 only and have a commissioner who oversees player suspensions, non conference scheduling, etc.

As long as rent-a-wins exist, they will still happen.
A lot of us "fans" don't understand some of the importance within these matchups. The beating SEC schools take on a weekly basis places some importance on a game against a weaker opponent. Would you rather rest some guys during a game against UAB, or against a team like Oregon?
I think there are too many games against FCS opponents, but those could be subbed with teams from the Sun Belt or MAC.

What is the point when the top FCS teams would give you a better game than most of the MAC/Belt teams.

also FCS schools cost less to bring in... and will never require a return trip...

It isn't a problem to play quality FCS schools. I'm not advocating playing schools like Grambling or Savannah State but schools like North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Sam Houston and other top teams.

If get dropped or drop some other team then maybe an exception could be made. A team can play 1 FCS game every 2 or 3 years. There was the rule about FCS games counting towards bowl eligibility.
If not we could fill with a Southern Miss or Memphis type team. An independent like BYU or Navy may have a spot but im not familiar with how quick we could schedule them.

I don't think it is anywhere near happening. It sounds like one of those things people would be in favor of but it won't happen IMO because the lower tier P5 schools will continue to worry about financial issues (e.g. enough gates from home revenue).
If all of the P5 schools actually played two P5 schools ooc every year that would be a major victory and great for college football. I think the playing P5 only or only playing 1a schools is a silly and ineffective policy to endorse.
