It happened in Iowa, too. The Democratic candidate for governor, Jack Hatch, somehow didn't register the domain before he picked his running mate (Vernon).
The Republican governor's team bough the domain and made a Twitter handle and used it against them

Pretty hilarious, but in today's day and age it's really a fatal mistake.
ETA: the best part is Jack Hatch's social media team didn't get the mom and actually retweeted a Tweet from the fake account

it's why I own the url of my name. Even though some dumbass in Arky has the same name as me and uses it as his twitter handle.
