long story short: don't binge watch the sopranos. give it your full attention, and have patience...unless you're just an oddity, you'll be rewarded.

The final scene is beyond fricking brilliant

If it's still on Netflix you should watch Trailer Park Boys.

Lilehammer is great on Netflix, but even better is the recent Fargo TV series with Billie Bob Thornton !!

Not only is it on Netflix but they recently added the new movie.

They are also picking up season 8 & 9 later this year.

Just started rewatching Lost.

On season 4 and it's so much better this time around.

We also knocked out Dexter and 24.

just finished Fargo last night with my wife
loved it, absolutely loved it. Had no idea that Martin Freeman is british watching the show

David Chase made a huge mistake in Season 1 of the Sopranos. he was intrigued by the concept of a Mafia Boss seeing a psychiatrist and he over estimated that we would be as intrigued as him. All we wanted to see was the day to day lives of a modern NJ Mafia syndicate. Once Chase gave us what we wanted and dialed down the head shrinking BS, the show found its groove.

Actually Bobby was the only decent human being in the group.

Robert "Bobby Bacala" Baccalieri, Jr

Poor guy. Nobody deserves to spend any time with Janice. Clearly he was Hitler in an earlier life.

I very much agree, and you could argue that Vito wasn't a bad guy either.

I just liked Mikey because he was such a sociopath that it made me laugh every time he was on screen.

I just started Spartacus. Do recommend based on your taste.

A buddy of mine had the DVD's for Spartacus and also Rome. So I've seen those shows as well. I was also watching Mad Men before I had Netflix and HBO. Love some Mad Men. Fargo may be one I check out since there's only one season so far.

I would watch True Detective and Fargo. They are both 9 episodes so you should be able to watch both. I loved both of these shows.

I was somebody who first watched the Sopranos long after its original run and after I'd seen other shows like The Wire and Deadwood. I think the reason Sopranos isn't up there with my favorites for me is that the characters were all just such utter shitbags with absolutely no redeemable qualities. I mean, frick, they weren't even any good at being evil. Tony Soprano got to be boss and stayed on top and alive for as long as he did by sheer luck.

I can forgive shitty people as long as you can respect them. Tony wasn't even competant. He wasn't clever. There was nothing to respect or admire about him. Shows like The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, Deadwood, are filled with characters that leave you conflicted at least some of the time. Marlo was the devil incarnate, but gotdamn he was great at the game! Al Swearengen was a filthy abusive pimp who ordered the death of an innocent little child, but gotdamn was he clever and charismatic!

Sopranos is just a bunch of despicable megacounts. I got the impression the show wanted me to root for Tony. I honestly couldn't. I thought it was a really good show, but I never developed any attachment to any characters because of how much I despised them all and found literally nothing about them I could respect.
