He also died a month in.
I'm reading through David McCullough's biography of John Adams and it's amazing how easily people could die of disease. Philadelphia seems to have been thinned out once a year due to yellow fever.
By the way, James Buchanan is probably the worst President, and his predecessor Franklin Pierce isn't far behind. Both were totally ineffective in keeping the Union together.

That doesn't make you the worst. It just makes you an irrelevant footnote because you did nothing at all.
You become the worst politician when you take an action that's devastating to the American people.
