How does that work? So say the buy in is $75 we get a "budget" of say $200 to bid?

Yes. I personally like snake better. I liked the Auction format until I went 0-2 with it.

Yeah, the budget for the draft is independent of the league buy-in.

Abel and I were in 2 auctions together this year - first time for both of us I think - and it's pretty damn fun.

The main point is you get to build your team without "luck of the draw" as in snake drafts. Everyone starts with the same budget and everyone gets a turn nominating players. So if you want say Forte, Shady, Megatron on your team, you can get them, but you'll have to spend a lot of your budget on them.

I'm sold on auction drafts now and trust me, I'm 12/12 in one and 1/12 in another.

Meh.

You're in 2 auction leagues. You're not 0-4 are you?

The problem we had this year though is getting everyone online for it.

Yeah, I'm 1-1 in the other league. I'm down for auction for sure. I think with more time to plan I can get a better team together. My auction drafts will be much better next year.

True. But you put this league together real quick. And then once everyone was in and decided slow draft, we started the next day I think.

If everyone is back in for next year, I think we'll have a better chance of setting a workable draft date.

Food for thought.

Wish I could draft over in this league, but I like the group we have.

I've never done an auction draft before. But, I'm open to the idea.

I would suggest everyone head over to a mock draft and see how it works

it's fun as hell but it does take a lot of time

we would not be able to do it in thread like we did this draft. We would need to decide on a date and time and do it via ESPN draft client.

There is a lot more strategy involved and there really is no time to scout in-draft unless you decide you just aren't going to bid on the player nominated.

I'm in a league I have been in for 5 years now and we have done auction every year. I like auction because it's not up to chance really. Everyone has a shot to draft anyone

ETA: but if you don't really understand how it works going in, you can get fricked. Best to do a few mocks to get the feel for it before doing it for real. just my advice

the first year it was the first auction for everyone in the league, talk about a shite show

I'm with this as long as keeper starts after this season. IE, year 3.

I've never done an auction until this year. Always snake or online salary cap challenges.

I was very tepid, but figure I'd give it a go. I'm stating now unequivocally that I prefer auction by a wide margin. This is coming from a guy that is in last place in the $50 auction buy-in on this board.
