Democrats are way more obsessed with impeachment than republicans

From PT darling Nate Silver

quote:

Consider, for example, the Sunlight Foundation’s Capitol Words database, which tracks words spoken in the House and Senate. So far in July, there have been 10 mentions of the term “impeachment” in Congress and four others of the term “impeach.” Eleven of the 14 mentions have been made by Democratic rather than Republican members of Congress, however.

quote:

This data comes from a Lexis-Nexis search of transcripts on each network. It counts each mention of the words “impeach” or “impeachment.” The terms were used 32 times in a single episode of MSNBC’s “The Ed Show” on Monday.

quote:

The scoreboard so far in July: Fox News has 95 mentions of impeachment, and MSNBC 448. That works out to about 2.7 mentions per hour of original programming on MSNBC, or once every 22 minutes. (This data is as of late Tuesday afternoon.)

I feel sorry for Nate Silver that he and his crew actually had to watch the Ed Show.

It is what they do.

Create a meme, have the media repeat it. Stewart and Colbert mock R's on it. Uninformed electorate gets outraged.

They really do an excellent job of it, to be honest.

This can't be true.

The gambler/lawyer/accountant/woman/transgender/etc says it isnt true, and it, whatever it is, would know!

Steve Scalise was on Fox News on Sunday and when specifically asked by Mike Wallace if the GOP would consider impeachment refused to rule it out.

So stop pretending this is a strawman. Democrats, for their part, are wise enough to know that such consideration is a major negative for Republicans.

There's no doubt that the Democrats would love for the Republicans to throw Obama into the briar patch.

Since a lot of these leaks are coming from the White House, the republicans should spin this by saying "even his own staff wants him impeached".

Obama is such a Drama Queen.

It's all he has.

How's that cease fire with Hamas working out?

I just assumed that's how modern politics works.

It's so transparent it's unbelievable anyone would take this seriously. Ok. Not unbelievable...but it should be.

It's a bit disingenuous to now claim this is a "strawman" when Republicans nationally and on this board have brought it up numerous times over the past year or more.
Rep Mike Burgess
Sen Jon Kyle
Sen Dan I horse
Rep Jason Chaffetz
Rep Blake Farenthold
Rep Kerry Bentivolio
The South Dakota Rep Party
And of course Sarah Palin

Yes the Dems have takin it and run with it and the Reps have shut up because of one thing..... Polls. Polls show any attempt at impeachment would be disastrous like with Clinton.

So now the Dems are using it to make money and show how out of touch the Rep extremists are and the establishment Reps are pretending it never happened. And you're doing your part with this thread.

It would be interesting to count how many threads we've had here calling for impeachment and how many threads denying calls for impeachment.

There is no doubt that come January, Steve Scalise and his extremists buddies will attempt a coup of the GOP and throw the "establishment" out. Many on this board are praying for this. And when and if that happens, common sense is banished from the GOP and articles of impeachment will be at the top of the list of things to do.

Does Obama merit impeachment and removal? Absolutely.

Can he be removed? Not as long as Reid is Majority Leader and not unless the GOP takes every Senate seat this cycle and gets Dems to vote with them.

Therefore, it would be retarded politically to even try and the GOP is being smart steering clear of this.

To me, impeachment has never been on the table for this President. Biden wouldn'tbe any better, and impeaching Obama would just fuel the "GOP is racist" meme. No one is dumb enough to impeach the first half-black Muslim president.

It's hardly a straw man.

In a related note, if you don't think the effects of the birther movement, calling him a muslim, the "You lie!" outburst, the statements (from sitting Republicans) that they will oppose Obama as their mission, the lawsuit, talking about impeachment, etc aren't adding up, you are going to be in for a big surprise. This stuff is building the wall for the Republican Party that will keep new members out.

What about June? May? April? What about 2013? 2012? 2011? 2010? The Earth is 5 billion years old ya know!

Funny how we only started keeping score when the Democrats mentioned impeachment.
