They still have turnstiles at HS? I thought they were getting rid of all of those with the MBs and moving to the light-up mickey heads.

There's still a few at all the parks but most of them are magic band towers now.

No...thats why I put it in quotes. If I said Mickey Readers, most people wouldn't know what I was talking about.

I;m putting my 4 year old in the car yesterday morning to take her to school and we're talking about racing, so I ask her "what is your favorite race?" but she thought I said "what is your favorite place?" so she answered Disney World.

In any event we talk about it for a couple of minutes on the way to school and she asks me how many days so I show her the "Days Until" app on my phone and she yells..."36 days till we fly to disney then take the bus to our hotel".

I had to break the news to her that this time we are driving, not flying and taking the bus from the airport. She asked, "and how long will this take". I said, "about 9 hours". "Nine hours? NINE Hours? Ummmm, yeah thats not gonna work."

It's about 11 hours from here. We've got grandparents and a toddler so flying non-stop was a must.

We're going to hit the road probably about 4 pm on Friday, stop somewhere between pensacola and Tallahassee (about halfway for us) to get something to eat, then hopefully pull in between 1-2 am.

Thats why we planned Blizzard Beach on Saturday. Sleep in a little and take it easy.

Problem is money..I mean, it like $800 for all three of us to fly, plus we are going back in December and we are flying for that trip.

Southwest should be around $200/person roundtrip from NO. 1:40 flight. And ell jr. can sit on our laps. Well worth it, IMO. But honestly, once he's older, driving would become an option again.

We did it with 3 kids. Made a stop/break in Mobile and saw the battleship, then we spent the night in Ocala. Woke up and drove to Disney in the morning. It wasn't horrible.

Prices aren't out yet for January, but I've been spot checking. As low as $109 there and $99 back. Prices are supposed to be released Monday.

Oh heeeeelllll no.

We're driving straight through, without question. There is zero between pensacola and Orlando that interests me. Except maybe the Firehouse Subs in Marianna.

On all of our trips as a kid, we drove all the way through. But we had to stop in Ocala at the Disney welcome center. That's where we picked up our tickets and made our food reservations. Plus, it got us all really excited knowing how close we were. Things were so much simpler when it came to planning and scheduling.

Serious question...did you really think that after 7 pages of a Disney thread that nobody else said that?

For someone who seems to be on top of planning this is not a good plan. If you pass Pensacola you might as well plan to make it to Tallahassee as there is no real civilization between the two points. Crestview would be your best bet but it is only about 30 minutes past Pensacola.

Do go in October or the cooler months during the down times, don't go in the middle of the summer...
