We just got done at the vet's office.

Heidi went easy and was surrounded by people who loved her. We cleared out the vet's complimentary treat jar by doing one of her favorite past times; throwing treats in the air and her catching then mid-air.

It was sad to see her mind still sharp as a tack but her body failing her.

I know we give each other a lot of crap on this forum but I'd like to thank everyone for their kind words and support; I stayed with her till the end and it was peaceful.

I will say the fake sympathy from the vet wasn't appreciated. Just come in and do it then leave us be. Also, the receptionist asking if we wanted to pay now or after was kind of cold.

Sorry for your loss man, but I'm glad you were there at the end. Dogs are great. I have two right now, but miss the ones I have lost all the time.

It will suck for some time, but cherish that you got to say goodbye. The first dog my wife and I owned got away from my grandpa on a walk last year and got hit by a car. Was one the worst feelings I had turning the corner and seeing him lifeless.

I think tomorrow is the day for my dog. I wasn't going to be there, but now, after your experience, I don't know. The fact that you seem to be holding up so well and had a solid experience gives me hope that it won't be as difficult as I imagine it to be.

Just know that you've helped me out in my struggle with the same ordeal. Good luck, buddy.
