Tanner may not be the second coming of Jerry Rice, but I don't think retaining him would make us a 3rd rate team. If it does, I guess that made us a 3rd rate organization 33 times (the number of transactions involving the Saints and Tanner) since 2010.
Obviously, Tanner has shown Payton enough to warrant keeping him around.

I think its more the tortuous route Tanner has took. 50 transactions(or so) on and off the roster etc..

Hell, Saints have had PLENTY of those types in NO. Chris Reiss... Even Steve Gleason.
I don't dislike Tanner, but c'mon. The guy is not a starting caliber NFL wr, sorry. If he makes the team, whoop de doo. I'd rather have Joe Morgan or even this kid Coleman (who it sounds like might not be working out after all come to think of it).

Added tea on Meachem, he recently got a divorce from his wife Shea Meachem and has 4 kids by 3 baby mamas (2 boys, 2 girls). Supposedly he's back with Baby Mama #3, Jasmine Sterling, but with this new development, we'll see how long that lasts. Meachem is only signed to a 1 year contract with the Saints so we'll see how that works out.
Ya gotta question any site that prominently displays this in bold-
