There are many track guys going to these high school combines is why you see the 4.3s. The NFL combine has FOOTBALL players at their combine.

Speaking of track guys, I'm going to update the track thread when I get home.

Dante Jackson would have won nationals with his time.

Malik Jefferson, a 220 lb linebacker ran a 4.39 at the same event what do you call that?

Patrick Peterson at 6'0 220 ran a 4.34 at the combine. That's why they call these guys freaks.

That was me that said that

I don't think anyone here really thinks that if he were in an NFL combine, he would run a 4.3... It just means that he is fast as shitccompared to others, it's not accurate but it means the exact same thing. What's the beef?

Why? Everybody knows (as evidently you do) that hand held timing is always faster than actual. But what it does is show who are the fastest players. Players who run a hand held 4.3 are faster than a player with a hand held 4.4 who is faster than a player with a hand held 4.5 and so on. Don't be so fastidious and all knowing.

From comparing hand held to laser or electric time you can generally add about .12 to .15 to the hand held. The results would be about 4.42 - 4.45 which is pretty f;ing fast if you field you must know exactly.

Patrick Peterson forty in highschool 4.47

PP7 4.32 handheld at NFL combine

PP7 official 4.34 at NFL combine

Dylan was clocked at
4.48 in 2012 LSU summer before 8th grade
4.44 in 2013 Georgia summer before freshman
4.47 in 2013 Alabama summer before freshman
4.39 in 2014 LSU summer before Sophomore

they cant all be wrong...

That seems accurate. I don't buy into the line of thought that says these kids get slower in college.

Those numbers show improved speed over time.

The numbers that are fishy, IMO, are the guys who "peak" is hs.

Sure it's been said already but if not...
Can't compare a high school 40 to the NFL 40. Times are inflated and also the kids put on a lot of weight during college careers.
