Just as unbreakable as Cy Young's win total, if not more, is his complete game record of 749 games

Considering starting pitchers now start an average of about 33 games a year, if a pitcher completed every game they started for 22 years, they would still be 23 games short of tying the record

To put it in perspective, if you add the complete game total that led MLB over the last 22 years, (the major's leader from 1989 to 2010), you get 225 complete games.

No one will get within 600 games of the record ever again. The current active leader has 59

This is great. I love that a modern-day pitcher who stayed healthy and threw a complete game every time for 22 years would still not have the record.

It really makes 749 more than just a number.

73 Home Runs* in a season.

*In my opinion Roger Maris still holds the single season record with 61 home runs.

This will not happen cause of all the testing that is done now.YES. Barry was a roid head and should never get into the hall and any record he has should be abolished.

Edwin Moses winning a 100 races in a row. Pete Rose hit record. Joe D's record. Cal Ripken.

Pete Maravich's Scoring average

Can't see a college basketball team winning 88 in a row either.

Bonds was a HOFer before he started juicing in 1998. People totally forget how great he was pre-1998.

The eras are totally different. Today you are lucky to keep a real good player more than three years. Plus even if a school was assured they would have the same core for a full 4 years... The competition is so fierce that it still would not happen.

Nobody will ever match 44 PPG in college again

I'm not saying they will. All I'm saying is it would be harder to break the record for career total points than it would be to break the record for PPG average for a season.

Look at it this way, anybody that breaks his career total point record is going to have to BLOW OUT his season PPG average, simply because anyone that is good enough to score that much will never play more than one or at most two years in college.
