The one guy who gave it a bad review was a guy who gave every marvel film except Iron Man 3 a mediocre grade

GotG is holding pretty strong as of now with 92%. In cases where the reviews are overwhemingly positive, I like to check out the negative reviews to see if their take is something I'm likely to share. (Besides which some of the comments on the negative reviews make the Rant after a loss seem mild)

It looks good to me from those negative reviews - two of them appear to be almost totally ideologically driven and the third was pretty mild and just seemed a matter of personal tastes.

Think I'll check this one out.

I look at the negatives before I look at the positive reviews on movies and from this one most of them seem to hate it just because it's a comic book movie and has too many laughs and CGI

of course I was a DC reader growing up so the twist wasnt the kick to my balls that it was for others.
That's exactly how I feel about it. I've said before though, if DC did something like that to Braniac, I would be pissed.

Got my tickets for tomorrow to see it. can't wait.
Just watched CA:TWS and it was awesome.

I think if GOTG does well like it's expected, The Avengers Age of Ultron is going to rack up the box office numbers, might hit 2 billion world wide.

Dang. The reviewer from the New Jersey Star-Ledger is waxing poetic about the movie:

quote:

The movie knows that junk art is still art, that no one is more in need of something to speak for them than the inarticulate — and with that it takes the secret pull of comic geekdom and elevates it to a kind of bittersweet, obsessive romanticism.

I saw the sneak preview at Disney yesterday. Looks awesome. I'll definitely go see and normally I hate these comic book movies.

Should I read some of the comics before watching or is Wiki sufficient enough?

There isn't a single comic series that would help you with this one.

The current guardians roster is much larger that the 5 in the film (who are the 5 from the 2008 relaunch)

You have

Iron Man
Angela
Captain Marvel
Adam Warlock
Quasar
Nova

just to name a few

Super excited about this one! I'm sure it's been mentioned, but hats off to whoever decided to open the movie the week after Comic Con. Everyone has the genre fresh on their minds.

Well, they kinda put out a GotG series with the movie's protagonists as the team. I haven't read it, but they promoted it pretty hard on Comixology.

But "Guardians of the Galaxy" isn't about that kind of scale. It's about the lazy comfort of underachieving (and the nagging guilt that maybe you should be doing more). It's about the sloppy squabbles of friendship (and the realization that, despite them, those bonds matter, and only grow). It's about finding real, honest emotion in a stupid Top 40 song.
I like this quote.

I'm really looking forward to this movie.
