It doesn't sound like he suffered. Personally, I don't understand why it is so hard to execute someone. Put them to sleep just like getting surgery. Give them lots of morphine, heroin, and sleeping pills, mixed with percocet. Follow up with an IV drip of 200 proof alcohol. At some point they will just die.

I have no sympathy for him.

There are much quicker ways to kill someone though.

A gun would be much more effective and humane than lethal injection IMO.

No. I'm concerned with how the next guy dies. I think executions should be carried out in a quick and painless manner.

So let's be clear. The anti-capital punishment people harassed the drug companies providing the quick and easy cocktail. So now we have an unreliable cocktail. And that's whose fault?

Bullets or a rope are both speedier methods of execution. I don't see the need to prolong suffering once the state has condemned someone. Death squares a citizen with any claim the state may have. The rest is between them and whatever they believe.

Torture is beneath a civilized people.

One of the issues I have with executions. I don't trust the government.

I have no issues when the evidence is clearly irrefutable, i.e. public shown video tape.

That being said, I still have no sympathy for this man if he was guilty.

To be fair, it's not just people. It's the entire European union and the UN putting the squeeze on the drug companies making it and they have quite a great deal of influence.

We should be using nitrogen asphyxiation or hypoxia. Two very painless forms of execution, you just breathe and then drift off to sleep and never wake up. It's unbelievable they aren't used for the DP. It'd prevent a mess like what we have making the rounds through the courts now these days.

I think atomizing by plastic explosives would be a more effective method...with more bang to the buck.

Seems like the defense lawyer was being overly dramatic, the governor has already said that eyewitness accounts and medical evidence suggest the perp didn't suffer. I realize the state also probably has to save face in this, it would be nice to get an unbiased account of how it actually went down.

It is a very interesting topic, to say the least.

Is the death itself the wanted outcome or is it the symbol it represents? Should the most heinous of crimes be punished by the most heinous of punishments, or is death where we should draw the line?

Are some actions so damnable that they deserve more than an execution?

Anyone realize we are arguing over Versed and Dilaudid? This guy was gorked and likely snoozing prior to the actual lethal drug being administered.

If you want to claim this as barbaric then tell the doc next time you are due for your colonoscopy to hold the conscious sedation cause you think it's an unethical drug combo.

This is the stuff drug seekers live for.
