quote:
Head coach only? Or position coach too?
He said "unless there is a coaching change"
But, It sounded like he was refering to mostly Coach Cam. especially since he is the one recruiting him, and he recently visited him and his mom.
Forgot to mention that his dad is in east texas and has some connections in Louisiana... so that helps too

I don't think the coaches are looking for a "type" of QB.
I think they have a set of skill parameters they consider. First, they score each QB prospect on those skill parameters. Second, they cull the players who don't meet the minimum for particular parameters. Third, they weigh the scores of the parameters for each of the remaining prospect.
The offensive scheme remains constant. The play calling shifts slightly to meet the skillset of the QB.
For a VERY ROUGH example, let's say each QB prospect is scored for the skills of passing (P) and running (R) from 1 to 10.
. . . . . . . . . . P . . . R
Prospect A: 3 and 9
Prospect B: 8 and 4
Prospect C: 6 and 6
Prospect D: 6 and 8
Prospect E: 9 and 2
Prospect F: 4 and 8
Prospect G: 8 and 6
A coach that runs a pass-heavy spread offense might take Prospect E. A coach that runs the option might take Prospect A. I think LSU would probably eliminate QBs like Prospects A and F (P<5), and decide to take Prospect D and/or G.
Cam and Miles have enough intelligence and experience to make an offense work whether it’s a Franks or a Patterson at QB. The frequency with which certain types of plays and formations/packages are called might adjust a little, but it will still be the same LSU offense we are used to seeing.

I agree. You work with the best you can get. And for the people saying it's ok if Franks leaves, my undergrad school took Jeff Godfrey and Blake Bortles in the same year. Godfrey started as a true fresh and won 11 games and a conference title. Two years later Bortles was the #3 pick the the draft. Depth matters because you never know what will happen. We need to keep both Patterson and Franks.

LSU wants a qb with athleticism, of course they should be able to make all the throws like Mett, but just think about how much more dangerous the qb can be if he has some wheels... i saw some of shea highlights and he isn't a statue like Mett...
We need both qbs...

Give me an athletic pocket passer to control the offense with few turnovers and hand it to the absolute stable of studs in the backfield, but, if needed, can absolutely take over teh game with his arms...I'll take it.
