Mine was for the Tennessee game in 2011. Married before kickoff and reception at LSU faculty club. Open bar and free food for the guests and the game was on 2 big screens. Those that didn't come showed their arse. Those that did come and tried to use the excuse of "I need to get home to watch the game" when it was on right there with free beer and food really showed their arse. If it was that important, I hear there is some magical wizardry called DVR that is rumored to be pretty bad arse. I hear you can skip commercials and everything.

Not every one gets married in Baton Rouge then has reception on campus the day of the game.

Saturdays during college football season are not about you. They are about LSU football and watching the game with people you want to be around or even watching alone if preferred

Weddings are a gathering of family and friends like no other. I used to get all worked up about missing an LSU game, but the older I get, the more I realize that these types of events don't happen often. A few people die, and you realize that a night spent with a hundred friends or family is a lot more valuable than watching an LSU game in my man cave.

I got married the Friday before Georgia a few years back. Woke up the next day and we went tailgate for our first official day being married. It's part of the reason I married the woman. She loves LSU as much as I do and knew better that plan the wedding on a Saturday during football season.

My brother is getting married October 25th (Ole Miss) and, of course, I'm the best man.

When I asked him why in the hell would they schedule their wedding on a game day, he responds "It's Ole Miss, what does it matter?"

My interpretation is his fiance controlled the situation.

My wife, on the other hand, says she knew better than to do that. We were engaged in December so we could have done a fall wedding but waited until later January.

Funny stuff...even if it's about theOSU. But the point is...no fall weddings!

Not reading through all this to see if anyone else has made this point yet, but you've said this twice as if it's irrefutably true.

LSU released its 2014 schedule on August 21, 2013. While some weddings are scheduled 12 months in advance, many are not (and many are planned even further in advance, which is excessive and another topic entirely).

Furthermore, college football season takes place between Labor Day weekend and the last weekend of November.

Every. Single. Year.

Weddings are events that are inherently designed to place a spotlight on the newlyweds, but disregarding something as culturally pervasive as an LSU football game---something that occurs only 12 weeks out of 52 a year---goes beyond the pale and is quite narcissistic.

Narcissistic to schedule a fall wedding because LSU is playing ULL? LOL dude, get your priorities straight. Friend and family events like weddings are a lot more important than a football game.

I agree there should be zero tolerance. I have missed many such weddings, but had no choice but to stand in two weddings of close relatives of mine who got married during LSU-
Ole Miss games. I wore purple and gold LSU garters as arm bands over my tuxedo sleeve in silent protest.

men forget that their anniversaries WILL fall on a game night in the fall years and year down the road.

My wife and I competed to get the bye weekend in 2011 at our desired venue.

Bye weekend weddings are a close second in terms of douchebaggery.

People still want to watch college football that Saturday even if their team isn't playing.

Dumbass.

You already know LSU is going to be playing those Saturdays in the fall before the schedule is released.

Never the case. Ever.

you can't miss one football game for a wedding (assuming it is a close friend or relative, otherwise who cares)?

Had a diehard LSU friend have his wedding on Dec 8th 2001. It was after season and SEC championship. Then 9/11 happened and games were cancelled and everything got pushed back a week. And then LSU makes it to SEC championship game on the same day/time as his wedding. I was friends but not best friends with him. I went to SEC championship game in ATL. Our friendship dissolved after that!! Still have no regrets! SEC championships games are the pinnacle for LSU and I will never miss one!

It is irrefutably true, unless you live in some podunk town or don't care about what venue and which vendors you have.

L O fricking L that you say the married couple is being narcissistic when you want them to factor in you watching a fricking football game into the schedule of when they get married. Where do you morons come from?

And let me guess, you three chumps (lsuroadie, LSUTigers1986, RATeamWannabe) posting to this thread at 11 PM, all shift workers?

Would definitely explain the neanderthal attitude.

It's really not that hard to have a spring/summer wedding

It really is when people and places aren't available for the spring. And also, I don't give a shite what you think. The day is not about you. Stay home and STFU if you don't like it.
