I think it depends on what is important to you. For me, the Masters is far and away the greatest. I think having it at the same course every year makes it fun because you know it backwards and forwards. It's also the most amazing golf course I've ever seen. I kind of switch back and forth on the US Open and the Open Championship. It really depends on where it is played.
When the US Open is played at Merion, Oakmont, or Pebble I probably find that more enjoyable, but when the Open Championship is played at St. Andrews, Turnberry, or Murfield I will like that one more. I think I enjoy more of the Open Championship venues than I do of the US Open courses overall.

Americans: Masters, US Open, Open, PGA
Australians: Masters, Open, US Open, PGA
European: Open, Masters, US Open, PGA

I spent most of my life in Georgia so I have some serious exposure bias and shite but I always thought the masters was considered the overwhelming best and that it wasn't even close

I think I agree with this. I'd even bet that some Europeans would put the Masters at the top. Being the Open Champion is great, and you get to play in it for the rest of your competitive career if you win. But I think becoming a winner at Augusta puts a player in an even more coveted club. There's something about having a green jacket and having access to the Champions locker room that makes it a little more special than the Open.

What about this scenario?
You only win 2 of the 4 legs of the grand slam. You win a total of 4 majors.
One major once.
Another major 3 times.
I would win the Masters once and the US Open 3 times.

Yea, I agree with that. The Masters is the most prestigious and the US Open is the toughest test. I'd have to win the Masters once to get that jacket and my yearly invite to the champions dinner, and winning 3 US Opens means you're in the HOF. Only 6 players have ever done that.

I wouldnt mind being known as someone who couldnt get it done on links golf.

I think they wish this was true. I believe you only get to play in it if you have won until you are 60. Masters is the only major you can always return to if you would like. The respect for the previous champions there is unbelievable.

us open, british open, the masters, pga ...
the pga has recently had a much stronger field than the other 3 ... several times in the past 10 or so years it's had the strongest field ... the masters is usually the weakest, i think ... that said, i like the stress and precision required of the us open, and the physical/mental improvisational ability required of the british ...

The British Open used to be my least favorite simply due to the shitty quality of the telecast. Growing up in the 80's and 90's and even most of the 2000's the British Open was just shitty to watch.now that the film quality had improved I really enjoy it.

I think that's what I heard.
That is true. Even though he's 64, I believe he got 4 additional years because of his 2nd place finish at Turnberry in 2009 and then the R&A gave him a special exemption to play in next year's open so he could finish out his run at the most historic venue.
