It's all good. We got a commitment from a recruit we assumed we had no shot at. There's been many cases where even though a recruit favored another school later in the process, he stuck with his pledge because he wanted to keep his word.

Is it me or the staff is going after a lot of under the radar guys? I guess the staff sees potential down the road or these are the types that replace the 3 years and done guys. I could see the logic in this. Welcome aboard Matt could really see him helping us down the road on the oline.

I think Grimes has very specific things he looks for and doesnt care about star ratings at all. He had a tweet right before we hire him about how of the 9 1st round o linemen drafted in the first round only 2 were higher than a 3 star.

Its just such a crap shoot on how to project them because some kids havent finished growing and some are fully matured in their Jr year of high school and dominating high school kids but cant make the jump.

This kids recruitment just recently blew up in a big way. Every camp he's gone to he's dominated. Should get a sizable bump in the rankings as the year goes on.

Thank you for sharing that information. On the 247 board, a lot of people are really excited about this kid. I thought he was a 5-star, lol. Grimes has obviously done his homework. IMO, OL are the hardest group to evaluate.

Yeah I'm not gonna question grimes on his evals especially after we told the #2 pick nfl left tackle that he would be a guard at the D 1 level (in our defense just about everyone projected him as a guard) when grimes saw the potential for tackle back then.
