all star games are for the fans, shouldn't it be populated by the players the fans want to see??

When people start using all star selections as a basis for saying one player is better than another, then they should take it out of the fans hands. Leave that up to coaches and current players. I'd rather see the players that are considered the best by the people that actually are involved in the sport.

Who did the fans vote in that you don't agree with?

Every fan pic with the exception of Donovan, Henry, and Martins were on the USMNT.

Henry retired from international play in 2010. He's been with the Red Bulls since 2010, and he's been a pretty damn good player in MLS. He's definitely not mailing it in, by any means.

As for Yedlin, he hasn't been a superstar in the MLS. His choice is based more on potential.

It's not that, but that there are some fantastic and deserving players that were either not fan selections or were left out of the team altogether.

How is that different than any other all star game? (except the pro bowl)

So, you are one of those Jeter should not start at the All-Star game people?

Most fans (myself included) would rather see over the hill stars of the game than random dudes like Dom Dwyer even if he had a better season.

Well, those people are not very bright, but you can't control what people think. They're not going to change the format. It's a meaningless game to get more money and have some fun with the players.

If Dom Dwyer scored a goal in the ASG, he would, without a doubt, celebrate by taking a selfie while in the middle of a front flip.

The fans would have loved that

You'd rather watch an older player that will put in absolutely no effort over an exciting young player that will give his all and that actually deserves to be there?

Why don't you think Landon belonged in the game?

It's my crazy opinion that the All Star team should be decided on what people have done this season.

Has Landon been the best player in MLS this season? Of course not.

But he has been good enough to make the team. Seriously, take a second and compare his production this season to some of the other guys, you'll find out quickly that he belongs.

Just life. As you get older, there are better athletes and skill players who can replace place you. He is not that good anymore compared to some of the younger talent in the MLS.
