forced adoption of common core LINK
With holding federal money seems as though they run it as a Federal Program.
How does Critical thinking fall into Math and language while discussing the Holocaust?

There is no forced adoption of common core. It was not a federal government creation. That is just wrong.

No. This thread is about the irony of Jindal using Grisby money to get the BESE board he wanted and now he has pissed off Grisby.
So what you're saying is that politicians should be bought? Just because a particular person donates money, doesn't require the governor to be loyal to them.
With the history of corruption in Louisiana politics, you would think that this is a good thing.
But no...screw the kids and their futures, all because one man donated money. I, personally, couldn't care less that one man is pissed off. Several states backed out of CC once they saw the standards. There is a reason that so many teachers and parents are against it.
Politicians bowing to big donors is a huge problem in this country. I applaude Governor Jindal for doing what is better for the state instead of worrying about pissing off one man.
I'm really starting to think that you have financial stakes in this. Why else would you be so furious?

+1
I am surrounded by teachers. Sister, Sister-in Law, Mother in Law,ex wife has a Dr. degree in education with 25 years in teaching. All were for CC. Now that they see how loosely it was put together they all see a need to postpone it.

You would think that he would respect Jindal for actually listening to the people who this would affect. But he is fired up over a pissed off donor. It makes zero sense.
IMO, this Grigsby guy wouldn't be so upset over this if there weren't something in it for him. Big time donors usually have a personal agenda. They don't give a shite about anyone else.

those states aren't Louisiana, 49th and 50th by every measure in education

No shite. What's your point?
Make one, if you can, and I'll be more than happy to address it.

There is no withholding of money because of common core. There is withholding of money if schools take no child left behind money and do not have a testing program.
Your link proves nothing.
It is not federally mandated and it does not involve history and social studies or even science.
Have you taken the third grade test yourself as I suggested?? Take it and see what it is you are opposed to if Louisiana adopts the test as their standard.
No need to post until you have done that and come to your own conclusions.

I have no financial interest in this like teachers do. The center of their objection is obviously that their pay will be tied to the state testing results as it is now.
Grigsby is in the construction business. Jindal soliticed his money to help elect the BESE board he wanted. Now he wants to investigate the board he choose for corruption simply because it is the only way to stop what he perceives is a threat to his political career--the legislative mandate he engineered to install Common Core in Louisiana.
Why don't you people defend Jindal instead of fixating on my post??
Posted on 7/19/14 at 12:40 pm to I B Freeman
Don't know much about CC, but Grigsby is an arse. So is his bride.

Maybe but nonetheless the facts are there--Jindal wanted his money, courted his support, was very aware of his support of CC and even promoted to Grigsby and LABI his support of CC in Louisiana and now he betrays them.

Why do Louisiana businesses care whether or not Common Core is implemented in LA schools?
Because they stand to make a shitload of money off of upgrading school techgnology and infrastructure for them to move away from pencil and paper tests. Pencil and paper can be bought for next to nothing, however wireless systems, upgraded computers, electrical grids, maintenance and repairs
They are licking their chops!
Run as fast as you can from this money grab, or your tax liability will skyrocket

Most of this has been pulled off of the State's website. I looked. Children being taught to worship politicians is not education.
This is why I disagree with common core. Teaching kids that Michelle Obama is awesome is not education.

You keep saying this. He owes them nothing.
There is a reason that businesses want this implemented - money.

Maybe they need to throw some film tax credits around.

That has nothing at all with using the CC test as the state benchmarking test as BESE wants.
Take the test yourself. I have linked to it two or three times and tell me what it is you don't like about the test. GEEZ.
How is any business but a printer going to profit from administering a test??
Lane Grigsby has time and time demonstrated his concern for Louisiana as a citizen. You can second guess him. Call him up and ask him.
You are making unfounded and petty acquisitions.
You must be a school teacher who can't teach kids how to pass the test.
Posted on 7/19/14 at 1:36 pm to I B Freeman
There's a Common Core test? I'd like to see that. What's the link?

1) They are not developmentally appropriate. Just because the governors moved down what used to be taught in 2nd grade to kindergarten doesn't mean its easy to teach. And just because you as a grown adult, have no issues with the test, proves you have no knowledge of what you are talking about.
2) In no district that I know of does the Supt say, "Heres Common Core, go teach it." Each and every one have been made afraid for their jobs, so they TELL their teachers how to teach. They want it done their way, to preserve their jobs
3) Each district has a cut-off date for entry. In La its Sept 30th. Therefore, a student born on Oct 1st will have a full year of development on a Sept 30th child. NO RELIABLE TEST can require that both children be on the same level by April of the school year. Its laughable
Having "accepted standards" for any grade level is a stupid concept, and goes against everything involved with developmental appropriateness
People do not act, learn, perform or behave on the same pace. Anyone suggesting otherwise should be ignored
Therefore, you, John White, Chas Roemer, and Grigsby should all be ignored

I did.
I have explained this several times. Sorry that you don't get it.

Tests are computer administrated. You fail.

I'm not a teacher. And I'm also not focusing on a 3rd grade test. That must be your education level. The problem will be "teachers teaching kids how to pass the test". It will become focused only on that.
But instead of attacking my education, why don't you answer the question that I have asked several times....Why does Jindal owe donors anything? How has he betrayed them?

What the frick are you talking about?
