The website says 'business attire' and 'jeans discouraged'. We have brunch reservations on Saturday morning in a few weeks- is the dress code a little more lax on Saturday, or should I pack some slacks and a dress shirt for it?

Pants, not jeans, and a polo is all you need.

Slacks and dress shirt. Why not? You can wear jeans anywhere anytime. Dress up for a nice meal at a nice restaurant.

I wear slacks and either a sport coat or a blazer, most of the time without a tie.

So basically you want to know the sloppiest you can dress without being turned away.

Pack some slacks and a dress shirt. It's not that hard.

Commander's dress code is always the same. You should wear slacks and a dress shirt at a minimum. That's a relaxed dress code there. When I was there for brunch, most men were in coats, some in ties. I did see a guy in jeans. He stuck out walking in.

Jeans = hunting, farming, riding horses

Pants = Commander's Palace

If you're still compelled to wear jeans, make sure you iron them.

Is it really that difficult to put on a pair of pants and a dress shirt and... ...tuck it in?

I'm convinced slacks and polo are the equivalent of little black dress for women. It's something you should always have and wear if an occasion like this comes up.
