Since you're not wanting to go very formal:

Bar Boulud
ABC Cocina
ABC Kitchen
Ma Peche

Just saw this was an old post and decision had already been made.

dinner is looking like Del Frisco.

why would you go to a chain steakhouse while in NYC?

The original del friscos is in Dallas anyway, save it for when you go there.

I hear ya, I've been to the NYC location already and it wasn't my first choice. Majority rules and it appears that's where we are heading. Still a few weeks out so things may change.

Yeah, I'm gonna need a review. Thanks. That place came up the other day in a thread and I mentioned my curiosity.

So much sad in that post. I feel for you. It's one reason I really don't like dining with a group.

One of the greatest food cities in the world and you have to eat at Anywhere's Ville.

When in Las Vegas I was overruled to go to Twin fricking Peaks.

I wasn't looking to big time either. Just a burger place with Ramsey or Flay's name on it.

Twin Mother fricking Peaks.

I hate to be a party pooper but that purple dining room in the midtown location looks T-A-C-K-Y. It's like I can't freakin believe my eyes it's so bad.

This happened to me when I was there too. We still made it to Gordon Ramsay's BurGR, but goddamn Twin Peaks was awful. I ate about 5 bites of my food there, the waitress was surly as hell, (turns out she was from Denham Springs, she warmed up to us a little after she found out we were from LA) and they served the beer so damn cold you couldn't taste it.

In a city filled with epic restaurants, avoid chains at all costs. Some people don't like leaving their comfort zones though I guess.

Harry's in the Financial/Battery Park area. Best steak I've ever had.
