Would it be that hard to at least try to make a decent movie while retaining their property right? Why bother retaining the rights if they aren't going to do anything with them? A shitty FF movie won't make much money. FF is not on the level of Xmen.

This isn't a rights retaining movie. Last time they did that the movie wasn't released.
This movie is slotted for release and the sequel has also been slotted for release.
Also the Corman movie had a non-existent budget. I can't find any budget numbers for the reboot but I stick with this being a terrible effort albeit not a movie just to maintain the rights.
The Corman film only had a 1 million budget. Once the budget numbers are released, you will see this isn't a rights movie. It is a horrible attempt at a real franchise.
