Has anyone used Truecar to haggle with the certified dealers?

I used truecar to get some quotes on a new Tacoma and so far 3 dealers have emailed me quotes. Is the truecar "fair price" a legitimate fair price, or do I have any room for negotiations beyond the dealership truecar quote?
Any advice would be helpful. TIA

Yes, money talks and bullshite walks.
I helped someone get another 1k off of the true car prices on a used vehicle a few weeks back.

The last 2 new cars I bought were well below the fair price, to the point of almost being off the bell curve
The price they were stating was supposed to include incentives too, but they were still very high IMO

This. I was 8k under the "average payed and 4.5k under the "dealer price" at the unusually low end of the bell curve.

If a dealership is only making a few hundred bucks a vehicle, they wouldn't be in business.
We all know that dealers compensation is tied to volume incentives from the manufacturer, and we all know you're full of shite.
I gave a dealership every opportunity to sell me a vehicle, but they wanted to be hard-asses and draw a line in the sand. I called a different dealership and struck a deal with them $1500 dollars with A LOT less hassle. I said, this is want, this is what I'll pay, and he said, "When can you pick it up".
Also, the car isn't on his lot either, whereas the other dealership wanted to charge me $200 to get it there, this guy didn't charge me a dime to go get it.

I'm going to start haggling for a Highlander in about a month and know I won't be buying from the local dealers. They don't even have one on the lot the last time I went buy. If you knew anything about the business you would know a dealership does not rely on sales to stay in business. A few hundred dollars X 200-250 cars adds up.

I wish we made the money you people think we make...i'll go ahead and pass this on to our manufacturer and im sure they will increase our compensation due to this statement.

So explain to me why is it that one dealership could give me a $1500 better deal on a car that they aren't going to service?
One dealership went below "invoice" cost, and the other one was trying to tack on more money to go get it. Neither dealership had the car I wanted. Why was one willing to do the deal and one not? Why did one want to charge a $200 fee to get it and one didn't charge me for it.
You can tell your car manufacturer what you want, you can tell your customer what you want. I had a night and day experience, one dealership earned my business, one didn't. It's their loss, not mine.

On a new car, absolutely yes... The kickback incentive is where its at. They could sell at invoice all day long and make money if they sell enough.
On a 20k used car, they are pricing it a lot more than a few hundred bucks.

All depends how the owner wants to run it. Some dealers want to rely on margins, others on volume. If the first dealership has a few people looking at that particular vehicle and they are about margins...then they will not discount it. The second dealer may be having a rough month and needs to get as many out as possible.
Yes, some manufacturers receive incentives...as they should. My point being is its not as large as a dollar amount as some think.
Sometimes you just need to take a loss to keep a customer base. If a customer is from your hometown or near...them driving an hour away to purchase is not good. Looks bad on you as a dealer. Believe it or not...its not always about the money.

Come on man, don't feed me that. Its always about the money! Yeah, you may take a hit on a trade-in or on the sticker, but its because you're expecting to offset that somewhere. Warranties, gap coverages, servicing.....

Either way you look at it...we live in a society now where the word PROFIT is evil. I don't blame those who come in looking for a great deal...as you should. But what bothers me is someone who comes in and thinks they automatically entitled the world....they want it all and will tell you they do not want you to make money. This same person most likely has credit card debt and is paying 19% interest on it. And then wants to come back after the deal is done with a million questions. Just like in any situation in this world...you get what you pay for.

I don't think the word profit is evil. Quite the opposite, I understand you have to make money on the deal, but I'm not going to voluntarily pay more than I want or should to help your bottom line.
I'm trying to get the best deal I can, and you're trying to make as much money as you can, I can understand that. I was searching for a deal that I knew I could get, and I found it. The other dealership could have easily given me that deal, and I'd have used them for servicing. But they didn't sell me a vehicle, and now I won't service with them because of the experience I had. I will now also tell everyone looking to buy a vehicle that they shouldn't deal with them.
If you don't like the car dealership model, go work in a different industry.

I love the model, when both sides understand it. But when you get these "experts" who read information on a third party site who try dictate every move...anyone would be annoyed.
But...great for you. That's what our economy is all about. You spend YOUR money where YOU want.

Most of the time this is true, but myself and many other dealers decrease the price of a used vehicle as it ages. If it is 60+ days old most likely there is minimal profit in the price, if it's old enough we could have it priced at a loser.
