But we could have all sat idly waiting for Bosh to sign with another team.

well then you have an unhappy star (Chris Paul anyone) on a bad team

he didn't pick them... They could only offer him 5m hile he got 7+ to go to Bulls....

here the Bulls have basically built their team through the draft Rose, Noah, Gibson, and Hinrich.... Boozer and no Pau are only two "big" names they have added. They have lesser role players they have added like Dunleavy to fill out their roster though

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills every time someone acts like Sam Hinkie is a genius.

They have two centers who have already had major injuries. Embiid looks like he may have the Greg Oden gene. Noel is 170 pounds.

MCW is an exciting player but I don't know if he'll ever be efficient or a good shooter. Not sure about Grant.

They could end up being great but can we see if any of this works before we praise him?

They look like they're still 3-5 years away from being a first round exit type of team in the weak East.

I don't know, maybe I just don't get it.

Point is, you keep Noel and you still have your pick which if the Pels have it maybe they tank a little more and end up in the top 7 so they have access to Smart and Payton. So ultimately would you rather Jrue-Asik or Noel-Peyton/Smart?

where has this happened? Because I mentioned that he took 2 players who were considered #1 picks before their injuries happened?

Not really talking about this thread in particular. Just the general consensus around the modern day NBA fan.

Obviously I was joking about his weight but I don't think Noel and Davis would work. No beef.

I actually watched the Pelicans/Lakers replay last night. Looks somewhere between a pickup game and the d-league.

Davis and Nerlens could have been Brow & Gap. Not really that catchy. No thanks.

are they competing for championships? They've been a tough out in the playoffs, in a weak eastern conference and obviously feel they cant take that next step without adding another star (Melo chase, adding Pau)

Dell has his star and has chosen to build around him now, rather than wait for 3-4 more years for draft picks to develop

theres two ways to skin a cat, neither way has proven to win a championship unless you have Lebron or Pop

I don't think the Pelicans are close to competing for a championship but they are close to a possible 7/8 seed in the playoffs, but is that what they strive for? A team of Davis, Nerlens, Payton (assuming Pelicans would have drafted him) is pretty exciting IMO.

Not posting on Pelicans board because some would see this as a shot at the Pelicans but I'm curious what more basketball fans believe.

Smart move not posting on their board, as it would be met with opposition.

To answer your question, the scenario would not be this simplified, we picked noel for Philly. I think if it were our pick we scoop up Burke or McLemore, and our pick this year is likely different by +/- 2-4 spots.

I personally don't like that we spent 3 picks on 2 guys, on contracts that don't align, but I do think we needed to do one of the deals. Perfect world for me would have been Burke and Asik, and keep this years pick, but that obviously benefits from hindsight. Both deals it seemed like we reached a bit, and could have gotten a little better of a deal, but neither are terrible franchise cripplers.

Clearly CP3 holds his own decision and takes his talents back to the Crescent City.
