Graham's camp believed over weekend that deadline for appeal was 4:00 p.m. ET. NFL believed Graham had until midnight.

I hope the FO just sits tight on this and doesn't give up more money than necessary.

Whatever is necessary to get his signed by tomorrow.

I think they're saying midnight tonight, not midnight last night.

It's really weird to see "NFL believed" instead of, you know, "NFL knew for sure since they're making the rules."

This may go down as the most unnecessarily examined things in Saints/Saint Talk history.

In the end, its going to go down as just another contract negotiation. Guy likely won't even miss any camp time.

You would've thought he'd sat a season out the way its been covered.

No sleep til West Virginia!

highest-paid TE in NFL history.

I firmly believe this is a mistake. Regardless of how well he plays next year, when we don't have the money to keep the young talent on the defense I'll just be more upset.

I'm still thinking that Loomis pushes a lot of Brees's salary into seasons that he won't play so as to keep the defense mostly intact. And if signing Byrd and extending Graham means losing Hicks and Galette, it's still worth it since they'll all help us compete for a SB over the next two seasons (depending on how many sacks Juneyah gets this season).

It's going to happen. They'll have to make another salary dump somewhere along the line next season.

I was actually laughing when I typed that. Used to play kick the can with my redneck family in the woods all the time as a kid. And redneck douchebag is a term of endearment. You redneck douchebag.

I think everyone outside of this board is oblivious to the fact that teams have to abide by a damn salary cap. Reading some of these posts on articles and Twitter make me want to pull my fricking hair out.

We are starting to have a defense that doesn't embarrass us; losing anyone on the starting lineup on defense is not worth another weapon on offense. IMO.

The appeal doesn't matter at this point. The long-term contract is on the table and being finalized. It's all about the money and his agent now.
