Oh yeah, Donna Shalala HATES athletics and wants to get rid of the whole program. Not good when your Pres has thise opinions. She made public comments a year or so ago about wanting to lower the importance of athletics at Tha U.

A small private school, zero fanbase, recruiting from the ghetto. They have to cheat, and cheat hard, to be good.

I don't think it has as much to do with conference change as talent. So why the lack of talent? Sanctions? Money? Lack of payoffs? Lack of recruiting? IDK.

I just looked it up.

Draft picks & First round picks:
2000-2004: 40&20
2005-2009: 23&6
2010-2014: 23&0

Here are the first round picks by year:
2014 0
2013 0
2012 0
2011 0
2010 0
2009 0
2008 1
2007 3
2006 1
2005 1
2004 6
2003 4
2002 5
2001 4

2000 1

the big misstep was hiring Shannon to replace Coker. The program had gotten stale under Coker and needed some new blood, things just continued to deteriorate under Shannon

The fences are down.

Other Florida schools like FAU, FIU, and UCF have stepped their game up in recruiting. Withering facilities, ho-hum coaching choices, you name it. They haven't improved their program one iota in over 10 years.

EDIT; They JUST built a new football facility, last year.

This.

They used to be able to make a living off S. Florida and Miami area recruiting, whereas now every top program is looting that area for talent. Plus, they've made awful coaching hires, haven't done anything to keep up the facilities race, and their fan support is terrible when they're not doing well.

Like Goldrush said, you name it, they've done it wrong.

Agreed. They could have stemmed the downfall of their program when they fired Coker by hiring the right coach, but they whiffed by handing the reigns to Shannon.

I've said it before, but I'll never understand the mentality of firing a coach for bad performance and then hiring a replacement from that coach's staff.

Hiring Coker in the first place was the biggest mistake.

Tread lightly. If I change 4 numbers in that post, you're an Alabama fan.

They also haven't had a QB worth a shite in God knows how long. Morris was the best they've had in a while and he sucked

They can cheat well enough to do better than they're doing right now. They just have to commit to it.

I'm sure. He inherited the greatest roster ever and it was simply downhill from there. Pretty sure Miami got worse each year of his tenure.
