Why do couples who met on Tinder try to pass it off as a legitimate dating site?

instead of just a hookup site?

I met a couple over the weekend and they told the story of how they met on tinder. All the other girls seemed (pretended) to think it was a sweet story of two lovers meeting in a magical way.

i was just staring at them for a minute and when the girl stopped talking i asked, "Isn't tinder just a casual hookup site?" Her b/f started laughing under his breath. She tried telling me "yeah, but we were both just on there as a joke... and when i saw him, i knew he was different."

i think i just said ok and laughed. i think she got pissed at me which wasn't my intention. i was just curious.

Are any of you actually dating someone you met on tinder? do you try to pass it off as a legit site or do you just joke about it saying "we met up for sex and it was good, so i stayed"?

I have a buddy of mine that is dating someone he met on Tinder. I'm not sure how it works, but how is it different than any other dating site or is it just understood if you use it it's solely for hooking up?

I've found that it's generally only guys who view it as a hookup app.

Some chicks use it only to hookup, but there's not many of them. At least that is what my in-depth research indicates.

All dating sites are basically hookup sites

it's more geared to be a hookup site, but honestly, I don't see much difference in Tinder and other sites...most guys are looking for arse and most chicks are looking for a ring just like every site

We had a big mixed-gender work lunch outting few weeks back and a guy coworker talked about dating on tinder.

I was kind of embarrassed for him because he clearly doesn't realize people are aware of the stigma.

what is the difference?

you only pick people from dating sites that you're trying to frick. tinder just kind of eliminates the initial awkwardness and lies

You "fault" them?

Why do you care how they tell their story?

I've been dating a girl for five months I met on Tinder. I mainly just used it as entertainment to pass the time but I ended up matching with this girl who lived a mile from me.

Things are going really well.

Dude who the frick cares how people meet? Why are you judging them for meeting in a particular way?

I have two buddies that are dating girls from Tinder. I have not heard them ever try and say Tinder was anything other than just that "a hookup site." FWIW, both couples have been together about a year.

In all reality, you can make the same argument about picking up a chick anywhere. It's all a gamble. Maybe you bang it out. Maybe you find the chick you're going to marry.

Why does anyone care where anyone meets?

Because it is whatever the two people involved want it to be.

Don't know, don't care. But I do know that there is zero chance in hell that everyone thinks exactly like you or that every male and female on Tinder is just there to hook-up as opposed to meet the right person.

Maybe they are in that 5% or whatever the percentage is.

Yeh, you were being just a little bit of a dick right there. No offense.
