There is a lot of misunderstanding of routers/APs/repeaters. Maybe I'll write up a post on that soon - or maybe IlikeLSUtoo can.

But for your dilemma, you may want to change your broadcast channel before buying any new equipment.

inSSIDer free LINK is a tool you can use to see what networks are in your area, their signal strength and channel. Closer to zero is better for signal strength.

Then pick 1,6, or 11 ONLY! as your wireless channel depending on the results you see from competing interference. This can make a huge difference in your coverage range.
